AIR Awards Of 2007
The AIR Awards of 2007 is the second annual Australian Independent Record Labels Association Music Awards (generally known as the AIR Awards) and was an award ceremony at Toff of the Town, in Melbourne, Australia on 10 December 2007 to honour outstanding achievements in sales by Australian independent artists. Four genre categories were added the list of awards from the previous year and German liquor brand, Jägermeister were named as the sponsor of the event for the first time. In 2015, Angus of Sneaky Sound System reflected on the night saying "We felt incredibly proud. Being an independent artist we'd put so much time, energy and money into the album so to receive these awards felt really very special. The AIR Awards mean a lot. Platinum awards and chart success and glowing reviews are wonderful of course, but it is just as gratifying to be recognised by your fellow independent artists for the quality of you recordings." The Hard Road Restrung
''The Hard Road: Restrung'' is a remix of Hilltop Hoods' previous album '' The Hard Road'', featuring the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and American freestyle rapper Okwerdz. The album was released on 12 May 2007 in Australia, with a launch show and one-off performance with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra at the Entertainment Centre on the release date. International guests Okwerdz and Mystro performed as a surprise for fans; they were not advertised on the bill. The performance was recorded, and will be feature on a DVD along with footage from recent Hilltop Hoods performances. The album debuted at #8 on the ARIA Album Charts and was certified gold. Toni Collette And The Finish
Toni Collette & The Finish were a band fronted by Australian actress, singer and songwriter Toni Collette. Other band members included Collette's husband Dave Galafassi, Glenn Richards, David Lane and Pete Farley. Tours Toni Collette & The Finish toured constantly around Australia throughout the end of 2006 to early 2007. Most venues were sell outs. The shows had a positive reception. Toni performed her last 2007 gig at The Vanguard at Newtown as a secret show; this show was sold out within a few days. Toni & The Finish announced that they will do a very special "warm up" show at the Gaelic Club Surry Hills on the 5/7/2007 for the basis to have fun before Live Earth. Muph & Plutonic
Muph & Plutonic is an Australian hip hop group. It is composed of MC Muphin (Dan Young, also known as "Muph") and DJ–drummer–producer Plutonic Lab (Leigh Ryan), both of whom released several solo albums before joining together to form a combined act in 2004. Biography Plutonic Lab Leigh Ryan, better known by the stage name Plutonic Lab, began drumming at the age of 10 and performing shows at 14. He released his first solo album in 2001, with others to follow in 2004 and 2005. He has produced beats for many Australian and international artists and performed at a number of festivals. Macromantics
Romy Hoffman (born 1980) is an Australian songwriter and musician who has performed under the names Macromantics, Romy and Agender. Initially based in Sydney, since 2014 she has worked in Los Angeles. Life and career Romy Hoffman was raised in a Jewish household. In 1995 as a 15-year-old she started playing guitar with her high school classmate Ben Lee's pop, punk band Noise Addict. With the group, she toured the United States where she encountered the New York-based hip hop culture. She told Tim Colman of ''The Sydney Morning Herald'', "I just did the last tour with them, which was great because I got to go to America." While a member of Noise Addict she was recorded for the track, "Spritz", which is the B-side of their single, "The Frail Girl" (1995). British India are an Australian rock band from Melbourne. The band is made up of lead vocalist and guitarist Declan Melia, guitarist Nic Wilson, bassist Will Drummond and drummer Matt O'Gorman. In 2019, Jack Tosi replaced Nic Wilson as a touring member of the band. They have released six studio albums. History Formation and Early Shows 2003 - 2006 The members of British India met in 2003 in high school at St. Bede's College, in Melbourne, Victoria. The band began rehearsing and writing songs in the pool room at drummer Matt O'Gorman's parent's house. Early influences included The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Datsuns, and Interpol. Upon finishing high school, the band began gigging extensively at pub and club shows throughout Melbourne. "Funky Tonight" is the first single by the John Butler Trio from their fourth studio album, ''Grand National''. It was released in December, 2006, on Jarrah Records. The song blends funk, roots, blues, and rock. The cover art for the single was designed by Tom Walker. The song was performed at the ARIA Music Awards of 2007 with special guest Keith Urban, which was then released as a digital download, debuting at number 11 on the ARIA Singles Chart on 12 November 2007. The Cops (Australian Band)
The Cops were an Australian rock band that formed in late 2003 by songwriter Simon Carter and bass player/keyboardist Rebecca Darwon (ex-Fyreflyes, Del-Emmas) in Sydney, New South Wales. Biography Initially, Simon Carter began recording songs in his parents' basement, which were unlikely to see the light of day, until he sat down with his bass-playing friend Bec Darwon and offered to play her his demos. The Cops' original line-up also included Simon Meli (The Widowbirds), Jimmy Stacks (who previously played with Carter in 'General Lee'), Andrew Gilbert (Whom Carter played with in 'Hush Honey') and Nick Kennedy (ex-Big Heavy Stuff). "Can't Touch It" is a song by Australian singer and songwriter Ricki-Lee Coulter. It was written by Coulter with Brian Kierulf and Joshua M. Schwartz of KNS Productions, who also produced the song. "Can't Touch It" was released as the lead single from Coulter's second studio album, '' Brand New Day'', on 4 August 2007.
