The International Boxing Association (IBA), previously known as the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur (AIBA), is an independent sport organization that sanctions amateur (Olympic-style) boxing matches and awards world and subordinate championships. IBA consists of five continental confederations — AFBC, AMBC, ASBC, EUBC, OCBC. The association includes 203 national boxing federations. IBA was recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the international governing body for the sport of boxing until 2019, when the IOC suspended its recognition of the federation. Wu Ching-kuo
Wu Ching-kuo (; born October 18, 1946) was the president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), a post he held from 2006 to 2017. He resigned from his position in November 2017. Having been a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1988 (and thus representing the IOC in Taiwan, participating as Chinese Taipei), he was elected to its executive board in 2012. After serious allegations of financial mismanagement and accounting irregularities were made against Wu, a motion was passed against him by AIBA's Executive Committee at a meeting in Moscow in July 2017. Members of AIBA's governing body called for an Extraordinary Congress within 3 months to table a no-confidence motion against the AIBA president. Amateur Boxing
Amateur boxing is a variant of boxing practiced at the collegiate level, at the Olympic Games, Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games, as well as many associations. Amateur boxing bouts are short in duration, comprising three rounds of three minutes in men, and four rounds of two minutes in women, each with a one-minute interval between rounds. Men's senior bouts changed in format from four two-minute rounds to three three-minute rounds on January 1, 2009. This type of competition prizes point-scoring blows, based on number of clean punches landed, rather than physical power. Also, this short format allows tournaments to feature several bouts over several days, unlike professional boxing, where fighters rest several months between bouts. Umar Nazarovich Kremlev (Russian: Умар Назарович Кремлёв; born on November 1, 1982 in Serpukhov) is a Russian sports functionary who is serving as the President of the International Boxing Association (IBA). He has been Secretary General and Member of the Executive Committee of the Boxing Federation of Russia since February 2017. Biography Kremlev received higher education at Moscow State Academy of Public Utilities and Construction. It is claimed that Kremlev worked in a transport company Transstroykom LLC and from 2009 to 2012 he served as President of Center for Strategic Development and Modernization. European Boxing Confederation
The European Boxing Confederation (EUBC) is the European governing body in amateur boxing. It is a member of the world governing body AIBA. It came into existence on the adoption of its constitution on February 16, 2009, taking over the functions of the former European Amateur Boxing Association (EABA). The president of the EUBC is Franco Falcinelli (former president of Italian Boxing Federation- Federazione Pugilistica Italiana). There are two vice-presidents and 16 executive committee members, all of whom are male, although the Confederation controls amateur boxing of both sexes.
