AFM Racing
AFM Racing are a United Kingdom-based motorsport team, run by owner-driver Rick Kerry. In 2007 they first competed in the British Touring Car Championship. They ran a BMW 120d (the championship's first ever diesel car). The team also built and are running Liam Hamilton's BMW E36 318is. The car, which is running in similar livery to Rick Kerry's BMW 1 Series, is currently competing in the Kumho BMW Championship. This is where Kerry himself used to compete, before making the step up to the BTCC. In 2009 AFM Racing returned to the BTCC after one year out which was spent improving the car. Rick Kerry
Rick Kerry (born 22 January 1972) is a British motor racing driver from Ipswich, United Kingdom. In 2007, Kerry drove in the British Touring Car Championship in a BMW 120d, the championship's first-ever diesel car. Racing History Prior to joining the BTCC, Kerry competed in the Classic Touring Car Racing Club in a Ford Escort XR3. He then moved into the Kumho BMW Championship in 2002. The first car he raced in the championship was an E34 M5. In 2005 & 2006 he drove an M3 E36, which was built, developed and run by West Suffolk Racing. The new car proved a great success as he was champion straight away in 2005, and again in 2006. At the end of the 2006 season, he took the decision to join the BTCC for 2007. 2007 British Touring Car Championship Season
The 2007 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season was the 50th British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season. It was won by Fabrizio Giovanardi with 10 race wins and 17 podiums. Going into the final race, Fabrizio Giovanardi was one point behind Jason Plato but a second place for Giovanardi and a fourth place for Plato resulted in Giovanardi taking the championship by 3 points. The Teams' championship was won by SEAT Sport UK, the Manufacturers' championship was won by Vauxhall, the Independents' Trophy was won by Colin Turkington and the Independent Teams' championship was won by Team RAC. BMW 1 Series
The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. It is the successor to the BMW 3 Series Compact and is currently in its third generation. Positioned as the entry level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles. Since 2014, the coupé and convertible models have been marketed separately as the 2 Series, therefore the 1 Series range no longer includes these body styles. A four-door sedan model became available for the Chinese market in 2017, using the front-wheel drive platform that is also used the basis for the third-generation 1 Series hatchback. BMW E36
The third generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars is designated under the model code E36, and was produced by the German automaker BMW from 1990 to 2000. The initial models were of the four-door sedan body style, followed by the coupe, convertible, wagon ("Touring"), hatchback ("Compact"), and the rare four-door convertible Baur TC4 in later years. The E36 was the first 3 Series to be offered in a hatchback body style. It was also the first 3 Series to be available with a six-speed manual transmission (in the 1996 M3), a five-speed automatic transmission, and a four-cylinder diesel engine. The Kumho BMW Championship is a single make racing series based in the UK. Exclusively for BMWs, the championship is run by the BMW Racing Drivers Club in conjunction with the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC). The championship is a BARC registered, BMW-exclusive motorsport series. Introduction The Championship is open to any production BMW sold in the UK. It provides close competition in four classes split by a power-to-weight ratio. Nick Leason
Nick Leason (born 23 August 1968 in Purley, London) is a British racing driver. Career In 2007, Leason drove in the British Touring Car Championship. Leason had initially planned to compete in the Daniels Motorsport-run Vauxhall Astra Coupe he had raced in the two final rounds of the 2006 season. However, this project was abandoned during pre-season and Leason was instead confirmed as a driver for BTC Racing in a Lexus teamed with Chris Stockton. He did not race at Croft that year and after persistent reliability troubles he decided to abort his full season campaign. Leason achieved a final championship position of 24th. In 2008, Leason announced that he planned to join up with Rick Kerry and Team AFM Racing to race a pair of diesel fuelled BMW 120ds, though the team missed the whole season.
