AFC Cleveland was an American semi-professional soccer club based in the Cleveland suburb of Independence, Ohio. Founded in 2011 and playing its first season in 2012, the team spent six years in the fourth-tier National Premier Soccer League. After being expelled from the NPSL at the end of the 2017 season, AFC Cleveland folded and was replaced by Cleveland SC, who began play in the NPSL in 2018. Bryan Gallego
Bryan Gallego (born March 10, 1993) is a former American association football, soccer player. Career Youth, college and amateur Gallego grew up in Kinnelon, New Jersey and graduated from Kinnelon High School as part of the class of 2011. He spent his youth career with the New York Red Bulls Academy. However, on December 3, 2012, the Portland Timbers acquired the MLS Homegrown rights for Gallego in a trade that sent Kosuke Kimura to the New York Red Bulls. Following his time in the Red Bulls youth system, Gallego spent three seasons at the University of Akron. Robert Dambrot (born October 19, 1994) is an American soccer player who plays as a defender for Indy Eleven in the USL Championship. Career College & Amateur Dambrot began playing college soccer at the University of Akron in 2013, where he red-shirted his first season before transferring to the University of Pittsburgh in 2017. During college, Dambrot appeared in the National Premier Soccer League with spells at AFC Cleveland and also following college with Virginia Beach City in 2019. Professional On August 9, 2019, Dambrot signed for USL Championship side Loudoun United. He made his professional debut on August 14, starting in a 2-1 loss to Charleston Battery. Dayton Dynamo were a soccer organization based in Dayton, Ohio. After taking off the 2018 season in the hopes of returning in 2019 in a more Professional league, those ambitions never came into place and around midway through 2019, the team ceased operations. They last played in the National Premier Soccer League in the fourth tier of American soccer. History Established in 2009 as the Cincinnati Saints, the team had been a member of the affiliated amateur Premier Arena Soccer League since 2009 before moving up to the pro league in 2013; however, in 2014 the team returned to the amateur league. The Cascadia Cup is the name of the trophy created in 2004 by supporters of the Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders, and Vancouver Whitecaps, which is awarded each season to the best soccer team in the Pacific Northwest. The cup is named for the Cascadia region. The Timbers, Sounders, and Whitecaps have roots dating to the days of the original North American Soccer League. Rust Belt Derby
The Rust Belt Derby was a soccer derby played between Detroit City FC, FC Buffalo, and AFC Cleveland in the National Premier Soccer League, the fourth tier of American soccer. The derby was named for the Rust Belt region of the United States. The RBD was created and sponsored by the supporter groups of the three clubs: The Situation Room (Buffalo), 6th City Syndicate (Cleveland), and the Northern Guard Supporters (Detroit). The series was based on the results of games played between the three sides, much like the Cascadia Cup. Cleveland won the inaugural Rust Belt Derby on June 23, 2012 following a 1–1 draw with Detroit City.
