ABC Television Players
''ABC Television Players'' is an American live television anthology that ran on American Broadcasting Company, ABC from January 16, 1949, through October 30, 1949. The program was originally called ''ABC Television Players'', then (beginning in April) ''ABC Tele-Players'', and finally (beginning in August) ''ABC Penthouse Players''. The program was a series of 30-minute, live dramatic presentations, containing little-known actors. It was narrated by Donald Gallaher, a Hollywood actor whose name was sometimes misspelled as Don Gallagher. The show was broadcast live from Chicago. Episodes of the program included "Record of a Social Wreck" on June 26, 1949, and "The Betrayers" on June 5, 1949. Donald Gallaher
Donald Gallaher (June 25, 1895 – August 14, 1961) was an American actor who appeared in 25 films between 1903 and 1949. He also directed five films, including ''Temple Tower'' (1930). His name is sometimes misspelled "Gallagher". Early years Gallaher was born in Quincy, Illinois. After moving to New York City as a child with his mother, he began acting in productions such as ''A Royal Family''. He had 10 roles in plays before he reached age 12. Career When he was four years old, Gallaher debuted as an actor portraying Rip in Sol Smith Russell's production of ''Poor Relations''. When he was 15, he ceased acting for two years and pitched in semi-professional baseball on Long Island. He returned to the stage at age 17. He appeared in the silent film '' The Great Train Robbery'' (1903), and a bit part in the 23-chapter serial ''The Million Dollar Mystery'' (1914). The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) is an American commercial broadcast television network. It is the flagship property of the ABC Entertainment Group division of The Walt Disney Company. Live Television
Live television is a television production broadcast in real-time, as events happen, in the present. In a secondary meaning, it may refer to streaming television over the Internet when content or programming is played continuously (not on demand). For example, the Pluto TV app has two categories for viewing: "Live TV" & "On Demand." On its website, Xfinity states "Watch TV series and top rated movies live and on demand with Xfinity Stream." In most cases live programming is not being recorded as it is shown on TV, but rather was not rehearsed or edited and is being shown only as it was recorded prior to being aired.
