WJRT-TV (channel 12) is a television station licensed to Flint, Michigan, United States, serving as the ABC affiliate for northeastern Michigan. Owned by Allen Media Broadcasting, the station maintains studios on Lapeer Road in Flint, with offices and a second newsroom for the Tri-Cities in Saginaw. Its transmitter is located on Burt Road in Albee Township, Michigan. History Goodwill Stations In May 1952, Goodwill Stations, owner of WJR radio in Detroit, announced the intent of applying for four station licenses which would operate as a regional network: channel 50 in Detroit, channel 11 in Toledo, Ohio, channel 12 in Flint and channel 5 in Bay City. WTAC-TV, Ultra high frequency, UHF Analog television, analog channel 16, was an American Broadcasting Company, ABC-Network affiliate, affiliated television station City of license, licensed to Flint, Michigan, United States. The station was owned by the Trendle-Campbell Broadcasting Company. History WTAC went on the air on Thursday, November 26 Thanksgiving Day of 1953. It was owned by the Trendle-Campbell Broadcasting Company which was a partnership of George W. Trendle (creator of ''The Lone Ranger'') and H. Allen Campbell which also owned WTAC (AM) which is now WSNL in Flint. The station went out of business less than a year later, on Friday, April 30, 1954, in the middle of ABC's coverage of the Army-McCarthy hearings, because too few TVs at the time were equipped to receive UHF channels. WPAG-TV (channel 20) was a television station in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States, which operated from 1953 to 1957. History WPAG-TV signed-on April 3, 1953, making it both Washtenaw County's first TV station and the first UHF station in Michigan (Saginaw's WKNX-TV, now WEYI-TV, signed on two days later). WPAG-TV was owned by the same people (Washtenaw Broadcasting) who operated WPAG radio (now WTKA). Art Greene (president) and Edward Baughn (general manager) were listed as both owning 50% of the station's stock (by 1957, Baughn would own 100% of the station); studios were located in downtown Ann Arbor, in the same building as the radio station. WFDF (910 kHz), which brands itself as 910 AM Superstation, is a talk radio-formatted radio station licensed to Farmington Hills, Michigan, serving Metro Detroit.
