A8 (Sydney)
The A8 is one of Sydney, Australia's metropolitan arterial routes, formerly designated Metroad 10. The A8 route runs for 23 kilometres from North Sydney to Mona Vale. The route includes parts of several different roads. The A8 is the main transport link through the Northern Beaches district of Sydney. It forms one of only three road connections between the Northern Beaches area and the rest of Sydney (the others being the A3 and route A38 (Warringah Road)). The A8's crossing of Middle Harbour on the Spit Bridge has become infamous as one of the most congested road links in the city, made worse by the regular opening of the bridge to allow boats to pass by. The A8 will eventually connect with the M8 in the Inner West via the Western Harbour Tunnel & Beaches Link, M4–M5 Link, and Rozelle Interchange. The Western Harbour Tunnel & Beaches Link is a planned underground motorway scheme in Sydney, New South Wales. It consists of a series of motorway tunnels running north-south between Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation ( A8) at Balgowlah and the WestConnex at Rozelle Interchange, providing direct access from the Northern Beaches to the Inner West at Rozelle The six-lane motorway is planned to be approximately 18 km long and to be built with both State and Federal funding. Pacific Highway is a national highway and major transport route along the central east coast of Australia, with the majority of it being part of Australia's Highway 1. The highway and its adjoining Pacific Motorway between Brisbane and Brunswick Heads and Pacific Motorway between Sydney and Newcastle links the state capitals of Sydney in New South Wales with Brisbane in Queensland, approximately paralleling the Tasman Sea of the South Pacific Ocean coast, via Gosford, Newcastle, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, and Ballina. The Spit is an urban locality in the suburb of Mosman in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The Aboriginal word for The Spit is ''Burra Bra''. Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation
The Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation is a 1.5 km stretch of freeway grade road in the Northern Beaches area of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Opened on 11 February 1985, it forms part of the A8 and is the only freeway grade section of that route. The road takes its name from Burnt Bridge Creek which flows beneath the road, although there is no sign of the "burnt bridge" which gives the creek its name. It will ultimately form part of the Western Harbour Tunnel & Beaches Link, which will be a motorway-grade southward continuation of the Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation to the Warringah Freeway, then via a new tunnel under Sydney Harbour to the WestConnex. Mona Vale Road
The A3 is a major metropolitan arterial route in Sydney, formerly designated Metroad 3. The A3 runs from its intersection with the A8 at Mona Vale at the north end, to the southerly of its two intersections with the A1, Princes Highway, at Blakehurst. The highest speed limit on the A3 is on Mona Vale Road. It is a major connector between most of the major radial routes emanating from central Sydney, and a major link between the northern and southern parts of the Sydney tolled orbital freeway. It is the most direct, although not necessarily the quickest, route across Sydney between the South Coast and the North Coast.
