The A7 Autoroute, also known as l'autoroute du Soleil (English: the Motorway of the Sun) is a French motorway. It continues the A6 and links Lyon to Marseille. Porte D'Aix
Porte d'Aix (also known as the Porte Royale) is a triumphal arch in Marseille, in the south of France, marking the old entry point to the city on the road from Aix-en-Provence. The classical design by Michel-Robert Penchaud was inspired by the triumphal arches of the Roman Empire. The Porte d’Aix was initially conceived in 1784 to honour Louis XVI and to commemorate the Peace of Paris (1783) that ended the American Revolutionary War. Following the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy in 1814-15, the project was resumed in 1823, now to commemorate French victories in the Spanish Expedition, notably at the Battle of Trocadero, August 31, 1823. Privas
Privas (; oc, Privàs , also ) is a city located in France, in the department of Ardèche. With its 8,465 inhabitants (2019), it is the least populated prefecture (capital of a department). It was the location of the 1629 Siege of Privas. Today, Privas is known for the purée made from the local chestnuts, and for its sweetened marron glacé. History The earliest traces of the commune are attested in the hamlet of Lac where recent archaeological excavations have revealed a Roman villa dating to the beginning of the Empire, as well as a medieval burying-ground. Moulds for counterfeiting coinage found in the 19th century on the slopes of Mont-Toulon had not been interpretable as signifying a local centre of population. Privas possibly comes from the old Gallic word ''briva'' meaning thoroughfare, or more specifically a wooden causeway over a ravine or water. Crest () is a commune in the Drôme department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France. In 2017, it had a population of 8,505. Population Its inhabitants are called ''Crestois''. Sights * The Tour de Crest, one of the highest medieval keeps in France - 52 m. Its height dominates the town. The tower was part of a castle which guarded one of the entrances to the Pre-Alps in Drôme. The site offers a large panoramic view. There are various exhibitions in the castle plus information about the Tour's past including the fact that it has served as a prison in the past. Loriol-sur-Drôme (, literally ''Loriol on Drôme''; Vivaro-Alpine: ''L’Auriòu de Droma'') is a commune in the Drôme department in southeastern France. Loriol is situated in the Rhône valley, between Valence and Montélimar. The neighbouring villages are Livron-sur-Drôme, Mirmande, and Cliousclat. Gap (, ) is the prefecture of the Hautes-Alpes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France.
