A57 Autoroute
The A57 autoroute is a motorway in south eastern France. It is 55 km long and runs from the ''Tunnel de Toulon'' to the A8 autoroute, A8 near Le Luc. The road is a toll motorway north of Toulon. It is operated by ESCOTA. It connects with the A570 spur to the town of Hyères. The motorway traverses the Massif des Maures and is mainly 2x2 lanes. The western terminus of the motorway links directly to the Toulon tunnel and onward to the A50 autoroute and Marseille. The Route nationale 7, or ''RN 7'', is a trunk road ( nationale) in France between Paris and the border with Italy. It was also known as ''Route des vacances'' (The Holiday Route), ''Route bleue'' (The Blue Route), and — sarcastically, during the annual rush to the Mediterranean beaches — the ''Route de la mort'' (Road of Death). Aubagne (, ''Aubanha'' in Occitan language, Occitan according to the classic norm or ''Aubagno'' according to the Mistralian norm) is a Commune in France, commune in the southern French Departments of France, department of Bouches-du-Rhône. La Garde, Var
La Garde (; Provençal Occitan: ''La Garda'') is a seaside commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. It is located in the Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée, east of the city of Toulon. In 2019, it had a population of 25,505. History The name derives from the town's ancient origins, meaning "The Guard". It is mentioned in 1056, when its castle was a fief of the Bishops of Toulon; they kept it until the 13th century, when it was handed over to the Castellanes, then the lords of Glandevès and the Thomas. Le Lavandou
Le Lavandou (; oc, Lo Lavandor) is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. It derives its name either from the flower lavender (''lavanda'' in Provençal) that is prevalent in the area, or more prosaically from the local form of the Occitan name for lavoir, ''lavandor'' (for ''lavador'', a public place for washing clothes). The (then) village is where the famous popular song A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square was written in the summer of 1939. The words were by Eric Maschwitz and the music by Manning Sherwin, with its title ‘stolen’ from a story by Michael Arlen. The song had its first performance in a local bar, where the melody was played on piano by Manning Sherwin with the help of the resident saxophonist.
