A4055 Road
The A4055 is the main road link between Cardiff Bay and Barry. History Dinas Powys Bypass The road goes through the village of Dinas Powys and there has been a call for by-pass due to the volume of traffic from Barry to and from Cardiff. However the Vale of Glamorgan Council confirmed in June 2007 that the by-pass would have to be funded by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG). 1988 extension The road was extended in 1988 from the junction of the A4160 to the Ferry Road Interchange of the A4232, this is called the Cogan Spur and as such it is also a spur road off the A4232. Route The road starts from the Cardiff International Sports Village at the Ferry Road Interchange (A4232), then along the Cogan Spur until the junction of Barons Court. Cardiff Bay
Cardiff Bay ( cy, Bae Caerdydd; historically Tiger Bay; colloquially "The Bay") is an area and freshwater lake in Cardiff, Wales. The site of a former tidal bay and estuary, it serves as the river mouth of the River Taff and Ely. The body of water was converted into a lake as part of a UK Government redevelopment project, involving the damming of the rivers by the Cardiff Bay Barrage in 1999. The barrage impounds the rivers from the Severn Estuary, providing flood defence and the creation of a permanent non-tidal high water lake with limited access to the sea, serving as a core feature of the redevelopment of the area in the 1990s. Surrounding the lake is a area of redeveloped former derelict docklands which shares its name. Barry Island
Barry Island ( cy, Ynys y Barri) is a district, peninsula and seaside resort, forming part of the town of Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. It is named after the 6th century Saint Baruc. Barry's stretch of coast, on the Bristol Channel, has the world's second highest tidal range of , second only to the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, Atlantic Canada. The peninsula was an island until the 1880s when it was linked to the mainland as the town of Barry expanded. This was partly due to the opening of Barry Docks by the Barry Railway Company. Established by David Davies, the docks now link up the gap which used to isolate Barry Island. Dinas Powys
Dinas Powys (; also spelt "Dinas Powis" in English) is a small town and community (Wales), community in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. Its name means "fort of the provincial place" and refers to the Dinas Powys hillfort, Iron Age hillfort which overlooks the village. Dinas Powys is south-west of the centre of Cardiff and is conveniently situated on the A4055 road from Cardiff to Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Barry, making it a popular dormitory village for city commuters. A4232 Road
The A4232, which is also known either as the Peripheral Distributor Road (PDR) ( cy, Ffordd Ddosbarthu Ymylol) or the Cardiff Link Road ( cy, Ffordd Gyswllt Caerdydd), is a distributor road in Cardiff, the capital of Wales. The first section of the PDR to be completed was the Southern Way Link Road in 1978 and the latest section was phase 1 of the Eastern Bay Link Road, known as Ewart Parkinson Road in 2017. When fully completed, the road will form part of the Cardiff ring road system. A bypass or beltway should not be considered a true spur route as it typically reconnects with another or the same major road. Cardiff International Sports Village ( cy, Pentref Chwaraeon Rhyngwladol Caerdydd) is located in Cardiff Bay in the city of Cardiff, Wales. It is one of the largest Urban renewal, regeneration projects currently in the UK and is a Public-private partnership, public-private funded project. Palmerstown is a south-eastern suburb of Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan south-west of Dinas Powys and 7 miles south-west of Cardiff in Wales. It is immediately north of chemical and plastics industries such as Dow Chemicals, and Barry No.2 dock and the Atlantic Trading Estate lie south-east of No.2 dock.
