A.G. Barr plc, commonly known as Barr's, is a soft drink manufacturer based in Cumbernauld, Scotland. It is widely known for manufacturing the drink Irn-Bru. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. History The company was founded in 1875 by Robert Barr in Falkirk. In 1887, his son, Robert Fulton Barr, set up a division of the original company in Glasgow, which had a much larger population. In 1892 the Glasgow branch passed to Andrew Greig Barr (where the name A.G. Barr comes from), a brother of the branch's founder. In 1899, they soft launched Irn Bru, eventually launching it in 1901. The Falkirk and Glasgow divisions merged in 1959, and the company was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1965. In 1972, A.G. Barr acquired the Tizer brand. Mollinsburn is a settlement in the North Lanarkshire area of Scotland. It is situated on the A80 road between Condorrat to the east and Moodiesburn to the west. The population is around 100. It used to be known as Mollinburn and the stream known as Mollins Burn joins the Luggie Water east of the village. Mollinsburn is south of the Luggie and the M80 and M73 motorways are between the river and the village - the roads converge at that point, resulting in the Mollinsburn name being used frequently in regional traffic reports. The Lammermuirs are a range of hills in southern Scotland, forming a natural boundary between East Lothian and the Borders. The name "Lammermuir" comes from the Old English ''lambra mōr'', meaning "moorland of the lambs". Geology The Lammermuir Hills are formed from a succession of Silurian and Ordovician age marine sediments known as greywackes together with siltstones, shales and mudstones. They are assigned to the Gala Group. Traditionally, it was made from fermented dandelion (''Taraxacum officinale'') and burdock (''Arctium lappa'') roots, hence the name.
