Eretum Monterotondo Calcio , known as just Eretum Monterotondo is an Italian football club based in Monterotondo, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital (former Province of Rome). Eretum Monterotondo was found in 2016 by the merger of A.S.D. Monterotondo Calcio and A.S.D. Eretum. A.S.D. Monterotondo Calcio itself, was founded in 2013 by the merger of A.S.D. Terza Categoria
The Terza Categoria is the lowest level of amateur football in Italy. It is the ninth level in the Italian football league system. Each individual league winner within the Terza Categoria level progresses to their closest regional league in the Seconda Categoria level. Unlike all the levels above the Terza Categoria, there is no relegation. This level of Italian football is completely amateur and is run on a provincial level from the Local and Provincial Committees. Eretum
Eretum (Greek: ), was an ancient town of the Sabines, situated on the Via Salaria, at its junction with the Via Nomentana, a short distance from the Tiber, and about from Rome. History Eretum lay near the frontier between Roman and Sabine territory in the regal period and early Republic. Solinus writes that it was established by Greeks in honor of Hera, and thus the name of the city (which he calls "Heretum") derives from her name.
