Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). CHAT-FM
CHAT-FM is a Canadian radio station that broadcasts a country format at 94.5 FM in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The station is owned by the Jim Pattison Group. History The station originally began broadcasting as an AM station on November 1, 1946 at 1270 kHz, where it remained until the station moved to 94.5 FM in 2006. It was a network affiliate of CBC Radio's Dominion Network until 1962 when the network dissolved. It then became an affiliate of the main CBC Radio network and remained so until 1994 when CBC built a repeater of CBR for the Medicine Hat area. In October 2022, the station rebranded as ''Wild 94.5'', taking its name from Calgary sister station CKWD-FM. CKAP-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at 100.9 FM in Kapuskasing, Ontario. The station airs an adult contemporary format branded as ''Moose FM''. CKAP also has a rebroadcaster in Hearst, CKHT-FM, at 94.5 FM. The station was launched in 1965 by Kapuskasing Broadcasting, airing at 580 AM. It was acquired by Mid-Canada Communications in 1987, becoming part of the Mid-Canada Radio network. In 1990, Mid-Canada Radio was acquired by the Pelmorex Radio Network. CKCW-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 94.5 FM in Moncton, New Brunswick. The station plays a hot adult contemporary format branded as ''K94.5'' and is owned by the Maritime Broadcasting System. History CKCW originally began broadcasting on December 4, 1934 at 1370 AM, with only 100 watts of power. The station was originally owned and operated by Moncton Broadcasting Company Ltd, managed by F.A. (Fred) Lynds. CKCK-FM is a radio station in Regina, Saskatchewan. Owned by Rawlco Communications, it broadcasts an adult hits format branded as ''Jack 94.5''. CJAB-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Saguenay, Quebec. Its studios are located at Rue Racine Est in the former city of Chicoutimi (co-located with sister stations CFIX-FM and Noovo owned-and-operated station CFRS-DT), with its transmitter atop Mount Valin. CITE-FM-1 is a French-language radio station located in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it broadcasts on 102.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 92,000 watts ( class C1) using an omnidirectional antenna on Mount Orford. This gives the station an impressive coverage area, as far west as Montreal, and as far south as St. Johnsbury, Vermont and Littleton, New Hampshire. However, it suffers from severe deficiencies in downtown Sherbrooke, most likely due to tall buildings blocking its signal in some areas. As a result, the station also operates a low-power relay in Sherbrooke, CITE-FM-2, which broadcasts on 94.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 50 watts, also using an omnidirectional antenna.
