9mm Winchester Magnum
The 9mm Winchester Magnum, which is also known as the 9×29mm, is a centerfire handgun cartridge developed by Winchester in the late 1970s. The cartridge was developed to duplicate the performance of the .357 S&W Magnum in an auto-pistol cartridge. The first handgun which chambered the cartridge was the Wildey pistol. Since then, Thompson/Center and LAR (Grizzly) have produced barrels chambered for this cartridge and AMT chambered their Automag III for it too, but the cartridge never reached the popularity enjoyed by other handgun cartridges. Starline Brass in Sedalia, Missouri, still make brass for this cartridge, although much of its production is now used to make 9mm blank firing cartridges for firearms chambered for 9×19mm, as this is easier to accomplish than using .223 Remington ( 5.56×45mm) cases, which may leave the neck area of the blank too thick to crimp properly. 9mm Winchester Magnum cases can also be trimmed and resized for reloading 9×25mm Mauser. A handgun is a short- barrelled gun, typically a firearm, that is designed to be usable with only one hand. Winchester Repeating Arms Company
The Winchester Repeating Arms Company was a prominent American manufacturer of repeating firearms and ammunition. The firm was established in 1866 by Oliver Winchester and was located in New Haven, Connecticut. The firm went into receivership in 1931 and was bought by the Western Cartridge Company, a forerunner of the Olin Corporation. The Winchester brand name is still owned by the Olin Corporation, which makes ammunition under that name. The Wildey is a gas-operated, double-action or single-action pistol designed by Wildey J. Moore. It was designed to fire several high-pressure proprietary cartridges including the .45 Winchester Magnum and the .475 Wildey Magnum. They are currently being produced by USA Firearms Corp.-Wildey Guns of Winsted, Connecticut. Action The Wildey was purpose-designed to be a hunting firearm. Arcadia Machine & Tool, commonly abbreviated to AMT, was a firearms manufacturer from Irwindale, California. The company produced several weapons, primarily clones of existing firearms, but made from stainless steel rather than the standard steel used for most firearms of the time. AMT was described by the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) as one of the "Ring of Fire companies", which were known for large-scale manufacture of Saturday night specials. The AMT Automag III is a single action semi-automatic handgun, designed by Harry Sanford, creator of the first Automag. The Automag III does not actually fire a magnum cartridge,but is chambered for the .30 Carbine cartridge, which was originally designed for the World War II era M1 carbine. It was also originally chambered for the 9mm Winchester Magnum cartridge. Only the original AMT production pistols were made in 9mm Winchester Magnum. 9×25mm Mauser
The 9×25mm Mauser (or 9mm Mauser Export) is a cartridge developed for the Mauser C96 service pistol around 1904 by DWM. Mauser pistols in this relatively powerful caliber were primarily intended for export to Africa, Asia, and South America. The 9mm Mauser Export cartridge was produced specifically for Mauser pistols and carbines made from 1904 to 1914 and then later from approximately 1930 to 1945 for submachine guns chambered for this caliber.
