9 Horses
9 Horses is a chamber jazz group from the United States consisting of composer and mandolinist Joseph Brent, violinist Sara Caswell, and bassist Andrew Ryan, originating from New York City. History Brent and bassist Shawn Conley first played together in 2010 in Brent's short-lived project The Joe Brent Quartet, which also featured clarinetist Hideaki Aomori and guitarist Nadav Lev. However, when Brent's commitments to Regina Spektor's touring band and his teaching responsibilities at Mannes College spread his time too thin, he put the quartet project on hold. In 2012, he started performing as a duo with Caswell, and after releasing ''Joe Brent & Sara Caswell EP'' together in 2013, they decided to add a bass player and Brent called on Conley once again, renaming the new ensemble after the Billy Collins poem of the same name. Joseph Brent
Joseph Frederick Brent (born April 6, 1976) is an American composer, mandolinist, multi-instrumentalist, and teacher. He is known for his performances and arrangements of rock and indie songs, as well as his original compositions with the ensemble 9 Horses. He teaches classical mandolin at Mannes College. Brent attended the Berklee College of Music, and studied the mandolin under Carlo Aonzo in Savona, Italy. He also received instruction from Barry Mitterhoff and Adam Steffey. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Brent is active as a sideman in several rock, jazz, bluegrass, and folk ensembles, most notably with Regina Spektor, Jewel (singer), Jewel, Kishi Bashi, Gary Smulyan, and various artists centered on the Brooklyn folk music scene. Jazz

Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. OneBeat (music Program)
OneBeat is an annual music exchange program that brings together musicians from around the world to share and collaborate on musical ideas and projects. OneBeat is the result of a partnership between Found Sound Nation, Bang on a Can and the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The first program was held in 2012 and as a release states: The program selects around 25 musicians from hundreds of international applicants to participate in a two-week Artist-in-residence/residency, where they experiment with sounds, records and produce tracks, and implement workshops through brainstorming with local educators, organizers and entrepreneurs. Kaia Kater
Kaia Kater (born in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, guitar, piano and banjo player. Background Kater was born in Montreal, Quebec, where she spent her early childhood in Mile End. She started playing the banjo at 12 years old. She also lived in Wakefield, Ottawa and Winnipeg before attending Davis & Elkins college in Elkins, West Virginia on a banjo scholarship. Newgrass
Bluegrass music is a genre of American roots music that developed in the 1940s in the Appalachian region of the United States. The genre derives its name from the band Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys. David Krakauer (born September 22, 1956) is an American clarinetist who performs klezmer, jazz, classical music, and avant-garde improvisation. Biography Krakauer's performance career focused on jazz and classical music before he joined the Klezmatics in 1988. He sees klezmer as his "musical home," saying "I can write music within klezmer, improvise, do experimental stuff, be an interpreter and a preservationist.
