9MA
''9MA'' is the only release by Brazilian alternative rock band Nove Mil Anjos. It came out in 2008 through the band's own label, 9MA Music, and distributed by Sky Blue Music. Produced in Los Angeles by Sebastian Krys, who previously worked with drummer Junior Lima's former group Sandy & Junior, the album spawned the singles "Chuva Agora" (made available for listening in advance through the band's official Myspace page) and "Visionário". Upon its release ''9MA'' received mostly positive reviews, with the music video for "Chuva Agora" being at one point one of the most viewed at the website of now-defunct MTV Brasil. Conversely, music critic Amauri Stamboroski Jr., writing for website G1, gave the album a scathing review, calling it a "disastrous" and "unoriginal" output and comparing it unfavorably to the sonority of bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine and Nirvana. Nove Mil Anjos
Nove Mil Anjos (Portuguese for "''Nine Thousand Angels''"), also referred to as 9MA, was a short-lived Brazilian alternative rock band from São Paulo. History Nove Mil Anjos was conceived by Junior Lima in 2008, one year after the break-up of Sandy & Junior, the duo he was a part of alongside his sister Sandy which acquired massive success throughout the 1990s and the 2000s. Besides Lima, who was the drummer, the band also comprised guitarist Peu Sousa (previously a live musician for singer Pitty), bassist Champignon (of Charlie Brown Jr. and Revolucionnários) and vocalist Péricles "Perí" Carpigiani. The band's name, however, was suggested by Sousa, who claimed it came to him through a dream. Later that year they released their first single, "Chuva Agora", through their official Myspace page, and made their debut show at the MTV Video Music Brazil award ceremony in October. Durval de Lima Júnior (born April 11, 1984), better known by his stage name Junior Lima, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, drummer, guitarist, actor and record producer best known for his work with duo Sandy & Junior. Luiz Carlos Leão Duarte Júnior (June 16, 1978 – September 9, 2013), better known by his stage name Champignon and also referred to affectionately as Champ or Champs by fans, was a Brazilian singer-songwriter, lyricist, bassist, beatboxer, record label owner and drummer famous for his work with bands Charlie Brown Jr., Revolucionnários, Nove Mil Anjos and A Banca. Sebastian Krys (born November 11, 1970) is an Argentine-born American audio engineer, record producer and radio personality. MTV Brasil was a Brazilian over-the-air television network owned by Grupo Abril focused on the youth. Pedro Sérgio dos Santos Maia de Sousa (July 22, 1977 – May 5, 2013), simply known as Peu Sousa, was a Brazilian guitarist, songwriter and record producer. Biography Career Peu Sousa was born in Salvador, Bahia on July 22, 1977, and was the stepson of Novos Baianos member Luiz Galvão. He began his career in 1995 with the band Dois Sapos e Meio, which lasted until 1999, and later served as a live musician during performances of Carlinhos Brown and his stepfather. In 2003 he was invited by singer Pitty to be part of her live band; he stayed for one year, during which he was the guitarist of her debut '' Admirável Chip Novo'' and co-wrote the track "Déjà-Vu" off her 2005 album ''Anacrônico''. Sandy & Junior were a Brazilian pop music duo consisting of siblings Sandy Leah Lima (born January 28, 1983) and Durval de Lima Júnior (born April 11, 1984). They first gained notoriety by being the children of Xororó from popular sertanejo duo Chitãozinho & Xororó.
