Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). RTRFM (call sign: 6RTR) is a Nonprofit organization, not-for-profit, community radio station based in Perth, the state capital of Western Australia. It is self-funded, largely through listener subscription and fund-raising events. However, it does carry some "advertising material" (called sponsorship with all community broadcasters in Australia) at a maximum of 5 mins per hour. It broadcasts 24 hours a day, on 92.1 in the frequency modulation, FM band. The name RTRFM is a contraction of "aRTy Radio". ABC Classic, formerly ABC-FM (also ABC Fine Music), and then ABC Classic FM, is an Australian classical music radio station available in Australia and internationally. Its website features classical music news, features and listening guides. It is operated by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Hobart FM (call sign: 7THE) is a radio station in Hobart, Australia broadcasting on 96.1 MHz and 92.1 MHz. They do not provide a track list. History Hobart FM Incorporated applied for and was granted a Public Radio Licence in 1977 under the auspices of the Tasmanian College of Advanced Education at Mount Nelson. Radio National, known on-air as RN, is an Australia-wide public service broadcasting radio network run by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). From 1947 until 1985, the network was known as ABC Radio 2. Muslim Community Radio (call sign 2MFM) is a community radio station based in Bankstown, New South Wales, Australia, and broadcasts to Sydney on a citywide licence. It is a volunteer-run organisation and is funded mostly through listener support. History The station is linked with Darulfatwa - Islamic High Council of Australia. The station first broadcast under a temporary licence during Ramadan and Dhu al-Hijjah beginning in 1995 and then added a weekly Friday broadcast in 1997.
