905 Derby
The 905 Derby is a list of association football rivalries, soccer rivalry between Canadian Premier League clubs, Forge FC and York United FC, both based in Southern Ontario. The rivalry gets the "905" nickname from the 905 area code, which encompasses both Hamilton, Ontario, Hamilton and Regional Municipality of York, York Region. Forge and York United were the only Ontario-based teams in the inaugural season of the league and remain the two closest in proximity, with less than separating their home stadiums. History In January 2019, the Canadian Premier League announced that its inaugural match on April 27, 2019, would be between Forge FC and York United FC (then known as York9 FC) at Tim Hortons Field, the first-ever staging of the 905 Derby. The match ended in a 1–1 draw. On November 21, 2021, Forge hosted York in the first CPL playoff meeting of the two clubs. Forge defeated York 3–1 to advance to the 2021 Canadian Premier League Final. 2021 Canadian Premier League Season
The 2021 Canadian Premier League season was the third season of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. Forge FC were defending champions, after defeating HFX Wanderers FC in the 2020 final. The season was planned to commence on May 22, the Victoria Day weekend, pending the approval of government authorities and the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. However, on May 14, it was announced that the start was to be pushed back to mid-June or early July. On June 5, the league committed to a full 28-match season, but that the season would begin in a single-site bubble at IG Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba, promoted as "The Kickoff", with each team playing eight matches between June 26 and July 24. Dominick Lukasz Zator (born September 18, 1994) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Ekstraklasa club Korona Kielce. Club career Early career Zator played for five seasons with the University of Calgary from 2012 to 2016. While at university, Zator also appeared for USL PDL side Calgary Foothills FC in 2015 and 2016, during which time the club progressed to the 2016 PDL Championship. Molham "Mo" Babouli ( ar, مُلهَم بَابُولِيّ; born January 2, 1993) is a professional footballer who plays for York United of the Canadian Premier League. Born in the United Arab Emirates, he represented Canada at youth level and currently represents the Syria national team.
