8th Jutra Awards
The 8th Jutra Awards were held on March 19, 2006 to honour films made with the participation of the Quebec film industry in 2005. Jean-Marc Vallée's ''C.R.A.Z.Y.'' dominated the ceremony. With fourteen nominations, a record, it swept each of the thirteen categories it was nominated in; only Pierre-Luc Brillant lost the award for Best Supporting Actor against his co-star Michel Côté. The movie also won the award for Most Successful Film Outside Quebec and the Billet d'or award, bringing its total to fifteen awards, also a record. The film also won three acting awards, the first film to do so and the first film to win both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Ricardo Trogi (born March 25, 1970) is a Canadian filmmaker, director and actor. Career Trogi was born in Quebec City, Quebec. His first two films, ''Québec-Montréal'', about seven twenty-something travellers driving between the two cities, and ''Dodging the Clock (Horloge biologique)'', a look at three men and their decisions about having children, were both critical and commercial hits, with ''Quebec-Montréal'' receiving four Jutra Awards. His third feature titled ''1981'', a semi-autobiographical film about a boy's coming of age, was released in September 2009; it was followed by the sequel films ''1987'' in 2014 and ''1991'' in 2018. In addition to film work, Trogi also directed the 2004-2005 television series ''Smash'' and the 2020 comedy series ''La Maison-Bleue''. Bernard Émond
Bernard Émond (born 1951) is a Canadian director, screenwriter, novelist and essayist working in the French-language. He studied anthropology at university and lived for several years in the Canadian north where he worked for the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation. He began his film career making documentaries, later moving to feature-length films, all of which have been shot in Quebec. He is noted for the humanistic, sometimes spiritual depth of his films, in particular his trilogy of feature films (2007, 2009, 2012) based on the three Christian virtues, faith, hope, and charity. Other themes in his work include human dignity and frailty, and cultural loss.
