Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). Stations are often affiliated with a radio network which provides content in a common radio format, either in broadcast syndication or simulcast or both. Radio stations broadcast with several different types of modulation: AM radio stations transmit in AM ( amplitude modulation), FM radio stations transmit in FM (frequency modulation), which are older analog audio standards, while newer digital radio stations transmit in several digital audio standards: DAB (digital audio broadcasting), HD radio, DRM ( Digital Radio Mondiale). KMPH (AM)
KMPH (840 AM) is a radio station licensed to and serving the Modesto, California area. The station is owned by Relevant Radio, Inc. History KMPH signed on in July 2006 with an Adult Standards/MOR format, with some talk programming. It effectively replaced sister station KTRB, which had operated from Modesto since 1933, but had just signed off the previous month in preparation of a move to the San Francisco Bay Area. The station switched to an all-talk format on March 10, 2008. Pappas Telecasting shut KMPH down on August 31, 2010, due to lack of revenue. KMPH later returned to air with brokered programming provided by Paulino Bernal Evangelism of Texas, then temporarily switched to a Talk format in May 2013 fed via KOMY (1340 AM) in La Selva Beach, California. On July 1, 2013, KMPH switched to a 1950s/1960s "Graffiti Gold" Oldies format, re-launching as "Modesto's Power House" and drawing on Modesto's connection to hometown hero George Lucas's classic 1973 motion picture, ...

WRYM
WRYM (840 AM; "Viva Radio") is a radio station broadcasting a Spanish-language tropical music format. Licensed to New Britain, Connecticut, United States, it serves the Hartford area. The station is owned by licensee Trignition Media, LLC. WRYM's studios are located in Newington, Connecticut, in front of its radio towers. History The station signed on August 18, 1946 as WKNB (for Kensington-New Britain), under the ownership of the New Britain Broadcasting Company. NBC bought the station in 1956; however, its main purpose in acquiring WKNB was to obtain its sister television station, WKNB-TV (which it renamed WNBC; it is now WVIT). Attempts were soon made to divest WKNB, supposedly because NBC was embarrassed to own a daytimer in the same market as WTIC, one of NBC Radio's first affiliates; however, the station was not sold until 1960, when both WKNB and WNBC were transferred to Plains Television, which then sold the radio station to the Beacon Broadcasting Company, control ...
