The ceremony was held in association with the local Music Fund (HF) and was hosted by actress Zdena Studenková. Unlike the previous editions when a clay statuette was designed, the new winners were bestowed a golden, five-pointed star with an inscription that read Grammy Slovakia '97, stationed on a black base. The ZAI Awards (''Hudobný fond'' or HF) are a Slovak music accolade presented by '' Zväz autorov a interprétov populárnej hudby'' (ZAI) to recognize outstanding achievements in the industry for the preceding year in the region. In the early phase, the annual ceremonies were held in association with the local Music Fund (HF) and International Federation of the Phonographic Industry Slovakia (SNS IFPI). For that reason, their follow-up equivalents were frequently renamed; once after the American Gramies (1996–1997). Following a 1997 protest of the U.S. NARAS management against the Czech music awards, also called likewise, the Slovak organization decided to change the adopted name too, renaming then trophies after the Artmedia Music Academy (1998–2000), also established by ZAI. ''SME'' or ''Denník SME'' (in English: ''WE ARE'' Daily) is one of the most widely read mainstream broadsheets in Slovakia. Their website, SME.sk, is one of the most visited Internet portals in Slovakia. History and profile ''SME'' was founded in mid-January 1993. ''SME'' appears 6 times a week. A remix (or reorchestration) is a piece of media which has been altered or contorted from its original state by adding, removing, or changing pieces of the item. Darina Rolincová
Dara Rolins (born 7 December 1972) is a Slovak recording artist and entrepreneur. Her music career began at the age of nine, after being cast in the television musical ''Zázračný autobus'' (1981). The early role established a formula for her regular assignments as a child singer, who had no trouble hitting note B6 and possibly above (in the TV series song Strasidla ("Spooks") to a Juraj Jakubisko's TV series Frankenstein's Aunt), and resulted in recording her debut album ''Keby som bola princezná Arabela'' (1983) on OPUS Records. By her late teens, Rolins appeared in a number of made-for-TV films of varying quality, as well as managing to deliver a series of teen pop-orientated albums, such as ''Darinka'' (1986), ''Čo o mne vieš'' (1988) and soundtrack ''Témeř růžový příběh'' (1990), all released by Supraphon. Ivan Tásler
Ivan Tásler (born 16 July 1979 in Prešov, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak singer, guitarist, composer, and producer. His career is closely connected with the band IMT Smile. The history of IMT Smile started in 1992 when it was founded by brothers Ivan and Miro Táslers whose initial letters have given the name to the band. Later, the band has changed the name several times (Epitath, Ruka) and finally, in 1995, it was renamed to IMT Smile again. In that time, nine musicians were a part of the group. In 1997, the first album was released. ''"Klik-klak"'' had a great success in Slovak charts, the song "''Nepoznám''" became a number one in a very short time. In 1998, the new album, ''"Valec"'', came out and IMT Smile became a band of the year. Other albums (''Nech sa páči'', ''IMT Smile'', ''Exotica'', ''Diamant'') were successful as well. Pavol Habera
Pavol Habera (born Pavel Habera, 12 April 1962, in Brezno, Czechoslovakia), better known as Paľo Habera, is a Slovak singer, musician, composer, and musical actor. He gained popularity in the 1980s as the leader of the rock band TEAM and has since been known through his successful solo career, and most recently as a judge on the television shows '' SuperStar Search Slovakia'' and ''SuperStar'', based on the British music competition television series ''Pop Idol''. Biography Career Habera studied economics at school, but eventually found his specialization in music. Before performing compulsory military service, he sang in the band Tristo hrmených – 300 HR, which also included Andrej Šeban, and later in Burčiak, also with Šeban. After returning from the army, Habera played with the band Avion. In 1988, he joined TEAM, a pop rock band from the city of Martin, whose fame rose with the arrival of their new lead singer. Pavol Hammel (born 7 December 1948, in Bratislava) is a Slovakia, Slovak musician, singer and producer. Pavol Hammel was born to a family of musicians. His father played violin in the Slovak National Theatre, and influenced Pavol to become a promising violin player too. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Comenius University in Bratislava in 1976. He gained fame initially in the group Prúdy, but has since established a successful solo career. He is married and has two daughters. Lobby (band)
Lobby was a Slovak Eurodance band active between 1995 and 2001. They released four studio albums and sang in Slovak, English, and Spanish. The band was made up of Martina Ostatníková, Andrej Dziak, Milan Michalík, Karol Bližnák and, until 1997, Miroslav Babják. Biography Lobby's first album, ''Hi Dee Ho!'', was released in 1995 on the independent label ENA Records. This was followed in 1996 by ''Power in Our Hands'' and ''Livin' Large'' (1997) on Sony's dance subsidiary Dance Pool. Their last album, ''Y2K'', came out in 2000 on Ariola Records. The band broke up the following year. Andrej Šeban
Andrej Šeban (born 23 June 1962), is a Slovaks, Slovak jazz fusion musician, composer, producer, studio guitarist, and instructor. He is also an occasional actor. Life and career Šeban was born in Bratislava in 1962. As a child, he took piano lessons and beginning in 1977, he took classical guitar lessons. The same year, he joined the band Nervy (where Martin Ďurinda sang and played guitar). From 1978 to 1979, he was a member of the jazz rock band Miting and in the early 1980s, he played with hard rock band Demikát. He joined the music faculty at Comenius University in 1986 and studied vocal performance. The same year, he wrote the score for the film ''Slané cukríky'' and briefly played in the groups Tristo hrmených and Burčiak with Pavol Habera. After university, Šeban became a member of the army's artistic ensemble, where he met Richard Müller (singer), Richard Müller and became co-leader of the pop band Banket (band), Banket until 1990.
