8th Saskatchewan Legislature
The 8th Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan was elected in the Saskatchewan general election held in June 1934. The assembly sat from November 15, 1934, to May 14, 1938. The Liberal Party led by James Garfield Gardiner formed the government. After Gardiner resigned to join the federal cabinet in November 1935, William John Patterson became party leader and premier. The Farmer-Labour Group, subsequently known as the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation and led by George Hara Williams, formed the official opposition. 1934 Saskatchewan General Election
The 1934 Saskatchewan general election was held on June 19, 1934, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. Norman Leslie McLeod
Norman Leslie McLeod (February 17, 1892 – September 23, 1949 ) was a teacher, and school principal in Unity Saskatchewan, and a farmer, merchant and political figure in Estevan Saskatchewan. He was a member of the legislative assembly of Saskatchewan for Estevan area ridings. He represented Estevan (former electoral district), Estevan from 1931 to 1932 and from 1934 to 1938 (when his riding was named Bromhead) and he represented Souris-Estevan from 1938 to 1944 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Saskatchewan Liberal Party, Liberal. Early life He was born in Melita, Manitoba, the son of John McLeod (1860-1938) and Sarah Hannah Harding (1866-1952). Charles Agar (politician)
: Charles Agar (September 5, 1882 – January 4, 1962) was a farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan, Canada. He represented Saskatoon County from 1921 to 1934 as a Progressive Party member then as a Liberal and Hanley from 1934 to 1944 as a Liberal in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. Biography Agar was born in Belfast, Ontario, (located in what is now Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh), was educated in Ontario and came to Saskatchewan in 1905. Herman Henry Kemper
Herman Henry Kemper (1882-1964) was an American-born farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Gull Lake in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1934 to 1938. He was born on a farm in Hebron, Nebraska, the son of Frank Herman Kemper and Louisa Haulker. In 1906, Kemper found work with a survey crew working on the railway west of Edmonton, Alberta. He returned home later that year but, in the summer of 1907, he traveled north again and worked on a farm near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Later in 1907, he settled on a homestead south of Gull Lake. Kemper returned to Nebraska and married Mina Burwell in 1911. The couple returned to Saskatchewan later that same year. After working on a farm near Moose Jaw, they were able to purchase land not far from his original homestead. Kemper served on the rural municipal district council for Arlington. Charles Morton Dunn (July 17, 1892 – November 15, 1975) was a life insurance agent and political figure in Saskatchewan.
