Directorate Of Film Festivals
The Directorate of Film Festivals in India was an organisation that initiated and presented the International Film Festival of India, the National Film Awards and the Indian Panorama. Although the Directorate helped appoint members of the jury panels each year, it had no input on which films are selected for consideration and which films ultimately win awards at the various functions it initiates. International Film Festival Of India
The International Film Festival of India (IFFI), founded in 1952, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. Held annually, currently in the state of Goa, on the western coast of the country, the festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos, and promoting friendship and cooperation among people of the world. The festival is conducted jointly by the National Film Development Corporation of India (under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting) and the state Government of Goa. New Delhi (, , ''Naī Dillī'') is the capital of India and a part of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT). New Delhi is the seat of all three branches of the government of India, hosting the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House, and the Supreme Court of India. The IFFI Best Film Award (officially known as the Golden Peacock for the Best Feature Film) is the Main Prize of the International Film Festival of India presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the organisation set up by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in India. It is one of several awards presented for feature films and awarded with the ''Golden Peacock'' a representation of the Peacock, India’s national bird, with a permanent motto of the festival ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is a Sanskrit phrase found in Hindu texts such as the Maha Upanishad, which means "The World Is One Family". Vedic tradition mentions "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" meaning all living beings on the earth are a family. Translation T ...’ (The whole world is a family). Rangel Valchanov
Rangel Valchanov ( bg, Рангел Вълчанов; 12 October 1928 – 30 September 2013) (also seen as Vulchanov) was a Bulgarian cinema actor and director. He finished theater directing at the Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in 1953. He started working as an assistant director and subsequently as a director. Valchanov worked in Czechoslovakia between 1970 and 1972 where he continued to work on films. He became a member of the European film academy and a "People's artist" in the People's Republic of Bulgaria. He was voted as the best Bulgarian film director of the 20th century. His 1986 film ''Where Are You Going?'' was screened in the Un Certain Regard section the 1986 Cannes Film Festival and was entered into the main competition at the 15th Moscow International Film Festival. Govind Nihalani
Govind Nihalani (born 19 December 1940) is an Indian film director, cinematographer, screenwriter and producer, known for his works in Hindi cinema. He has been the recipient of six National Film Awards, and five Bollywood Filmfare Awards. In 1996, his script for ''Drohkaal'' was adapted by Kamal Haasan for its Tamil remake, '' Kuruthipunal'', which subsequently became India's official entry for the 68th Academy Awards Best Foreign Language Film category. His first directorial venture was ''Aakrosh'', starring Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Smita Patil and Amrish Puri. The film was scripted by noted Marathi playwright Vijay Tendulkar. The film shared the Golden Peacock for best film at the International Film Festival of India held in New Delhi in 1981. He then directed ''Ardh Satya'', based on a story by S. D. Panwalkar.
