8 Star Motorsports LLC is a sports car racing team founded by racing driver Enzo Potolicchio in 2012. The team currently races in the United SportsCar Championship PC class and the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites L1. History 2013 After a business and racing career in Venezuela Enzo Potolicchio emigrated to the US in 2011. He founded 8 Star Motorsports in November 2012. 8 Star Motorsports raced full-time in the 2013 IMSA Prototype Lites season. The team fielded several Venezuelan drivers. Seventeen-year-old Christian Potolicchio scored the best results. The son of the team principal scored one podium finish and ended sixth in the final standings. The team made their debut in the PC class of the American Le Mans Series at the 2013 Petit Le Mans. Sean Rayhall and Oswaldo Negri finished the Oreca FLM09 second in class. Enzo Potolicchio
Vicente "Enzo" Potolicchio (born 7 August 1968 in Caracas) is a Venezuelan racing driver and businessman, who competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship and Rolex Sports Car Series for Starworks Motorsport. He won the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans and 2012 12 Hours of Sebring, both in the LMP2 class. Early racing career Potolicchio spent his early career racing Formula Ford, both at home in Venezuela where he was champion in 2005, and in the American F2000 Championship Series. He also took part in Venezuelan Porsche Super Cup in 1998, which saw him earn 11 victories and the country's Automobile Driver of the Year award. Ferrari Challenge Potolicchio participated in two Ferrari Challenge North America races in 2009, earning a victory and a third-place finish. 2014 24 Hours Of Daytona
The 52nd Rolex 24 at Daytona was an endurance sports car racing event held at the Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida, from 23–26 January 2014. The 52nd running of the 24 Hours of Daytona was also the inaugural race for the Tudor United SportsCar Championship as well as the newly merged International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) sanctioning body. IMSA Lites
IMSA Prototype Challenge (formerly IMSA Prototype Lites) is a racing series featuring two classes of single-seat prototype cars racing simultaneously. The series is sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). Most races are held in support of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The series races LMP3 class prototype sportscars. The cars have grown in size and speed since its 2006 introduction, starting from four-cylinder and motorcycle powered race cars to large V8 powered cars. The 81st 24 Hours of Le Mans (French: ''81e 24 Heures du Mans'') was a 24-hour automobile endurance racing event for Le Mans Prototype and Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance cars held from 19 to 23 June 2013 at the Circuit de la Sarthe close to Le Mans, France. It was the 81st running of the event, as organised by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) since 1923. Rui Sérgio de Almeida Águas (born February 29, 1972 in Nampula, Mozambique) is a Mozambican-born Portuguese race car driver. Águas spent two seasons in Formula 3000, driving for Nordic in 1997 and Auto Sport and Coloni in 1998. He has since moved on to Formula Nissan and Renault Eurocup, before making a name for himself on the GT class, being one of the top contenders of the GT2 category, always at the wheel of a Ferrari. He is currently racing on the International GT Open. 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship Season
The 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship season was the second season of the FIA World Endurance Championship auto racing series, co-organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO). The series was open to Le Mans Prototypes and grand tourer-style racing cars meeting four ACO categories. World Championships were awarded to drivers and to LMP1 category manufacturers, and several World Cups and Endurance Trophies were awarded for the series' other categories.
