7th Edda Awards
The 7th Edda Awards were held on 13 November 2005 at Nordica Hótel in Reykjavík. The Awards were hosted by actor Þorsteinn Guðmundsson and was broadcast live on RÚV. As in previous years, the public was able to cast their votes online. The Icelandic Film and Television Academy had 70% say in the results and the public 30%. Except for the Best Television Personality where the public had 100% say in the results. This year a total of 53 people were nominated for Best Television Personality. This year also marked the first time the members of the academy were able to submit their votes online. This was done through a special email service. The film ''Voksne Mennesker'', directed by Dagur Kári was nominated in five categories and won 4 awards. Magnús Scheving's '' LazyTown'' was also nominated in 5 categories but only won one award. Reykjavík

Africa United (2005 Film)
''Africa United'' is a 2005 Icelandic documentary film directed by Ólaf de Fleur Jóhannesson. The original musical score is by Barði Jóhannsson. The film explores the life of Zakaria Anbari who moves to Iceland from Morocco in search of fortune. The film premiered at the 2005 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. It won the Documentary of the Year at the 2005 Edda Awards. It also received nominations for Director of the Year and Script of the Year at the 2005 Edda Awards. ''Africa United'' was filmed in Iceland, England, Morocco and Serbia. Plot Zakaria Anbari (Zico) has been playing football all his life. He came to Iceland from Morocco to seek his fortune. He starts his own business but it fails to take off after ten years, and Zico goes bankrupt and unable to find work. Áramótaskaupið
''Áramótaskaupið'' ("The New Year's Lampoon") is an annual Icelandic television comedy special, broadcast on New Year's Eve by the state public service broadcaster RÚV. Initially aired on radio, and later moving to television, it features sketches satirizing the news events of the past year. It is often the highest-rated television broadcast of the year in Iceland. In 2002, it was reported that the special had been seen by 95.5%; CEO Páll Magnússon, CEO of RÚV stated that this was most likely a record in the Western world. Due to its high viewership, advertising time during ''Áramótaskaupið'' is the most expensive on Icelandic television. The show ends just before midnight, and those Icelanders who shoot off fireworks usually do so after ''Áramótaskaupið'' ends. Pálmi Gestsson
Pálmi Gestsson (born 2 October 1957) is an Icelandic actor and voice actor. He is known for the long-running Icelandic sketch group ''Spaugstofan'' which he co-created. Among his voice acting is the Icelandic voice of Shere Khan in ''The Jungle Book''. Early life Pálmi was born in 1957 in Bolungarvík, the Westfjords, Iceland. Career Pálmi graduated from the Icelandic Drama School in 1982. He has been working with the National Theatre of Iceland since 1983. Personal life Pálmi is a nature lover and once walked up 52 mountains (1 per week) in a year in Iceland. He likes hunting birds and especially reindeer which is one of his favorite foods. Helgi Björnsson (born 10 July 1958), often referred to as Helgi Björns, is an Icelandic actor and pop/rock musician. Edda Award For Best Supporting Actor Or Actress
The Edda Award is an accolade bestowed annually by the Icelandic Film and Television Academy, and is the most prominent film and television award in Iceland, awarded annually in February. The ''Edda'' has awarded for outstanding work in various categories of film and television annually since 1999,Kvikmyndir órjúfanlegur hluti sagnaarfsins Morgunblaðið, 20 October 1999, p. 60 (in Icelandic) except in 2009 due to the economic crash the year before. Ilmur Kristjánsdóttir (born 19 March 1978) is an Icelandic actress, screenwriter and politician. She is known for her role as Hinrika in the Icelandic TV series '' Trapped''.
