7th Astra Film Awards
The 7th Astra Film Awards, presented by the Hollywood Creative Alliance, took place on January 6, 2024, at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. It was produced by Content.23 Media, DIGA Studios, and Vox Productions. The nominations were announced live on the official HCA YouTube channel on December 7, 2023. The fantasy comedy '' Barbie'' led the nominations with ten, followed by '' The Holdovers'' with seven, and ''Oppenheimer'' and '' Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse'' with six each. ''Barbie'' ultimately won the most awards with five wins, including Best Picture and Best Actress ( Margot Robbie). Hollywood Creative Alliance
The Hollywood Creative Alliance (HCA) is a film critic organization in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 2016 as the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society and renamed in 2019 to Hollywood Critics Association. In 2023, the organization changed its name a second time, and rebranded its awards as The Astra Awards. History Organization In 2016, Scott Menzel, Scott Mantz, and Ashley Menzel noted that Los Angeles only had one film critic organization. They founded the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society to be a critics group that is diverse and supports underrepresented voices. The group originally separated directing honors by gender.
