7 Blue Skies
7 Blue Skies was an alternative rock band formed in 2004. The group was well known for their high energy live performances, as well as for always performing barefoot. The band has since broken up. Band name The band's name was chosen following an email from producer Ron Saint Germain, in which Germain signed off "Good luck, 7 blue skies!" The band determined the name to mean "have a nice week," and decided to use the name. This was later revealed to be a typo, as the intended line was "Good luck & blue skies!" (the & is located above the 7 key). History Jon Shaffer, Adam Schulman and Andy Stickel formed the band and posted an ad online for a singer and drummer in 2004. Ramsay and Garitta responded to the ad and arranged a rehearsal and from there the band was born. Traverser is a progressive rock band formed in 2004. The band is known for their use of visual art, and conceptually oriented songs and lyrics. Their live performances often include samples of pre-recorded audio to imply a storyline or theme to the audience. The band wrote and performed as a trio until October 2009 when Jon Shaffer, former guitarist for 7 Blue Skies, joined the band as a permanent second guitarist. "The Distance" is a song by American alternative rock band Cake. Released in August 1996, "The Distance" was the first single from the band's second album, '' Fashion Nugget'', and is considered one of their most popular songs. It was written by the band's guitarist at the time, Greg Brown. Background "It is a song about success and failure, and failure of success, really," said singer John McCrea in 2019. "It's a sad song, because there is no success. You can explode into the world with great magnificence, and still feel like the guy underneath the Mickey Mouse head, with the fan batteries that have stopped working properly, and it's dark under there, and everybody wants your autograph."
