77th Airmobile Brigade
The 77th Separate Airmobile Brigade ( uk, 77-ма окрема аеромобільна бригада; 77 ОАеМБр); Military Unit Number A4355) is a brigade of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces formed in the summer of 2022, based in Zhytomyr. History The brigade was formed in the summer of 2022 as part of the expansion of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. Its first units finished basic training in October 2022. Battle of Soledar The units received decorations and praise from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy along with the 46th Airmobile Brigade for its defense of Soledar. Battle of Bakhmut Following the capture of Soledar by Russian forced on January 16, 2023 the unit has joined in the defense of Bakhmut. Ukrainian Air Assault Forces
The Ukrainian Air Assault Forces (, or ), known until 2017 as the Ukrainian Airmobile Forces (, ), are the airborne forces of Ukraine. They formed in 1992 and were part of the Ukrainian Ground Forces until 2016, when they separated to become one of five Military branch, branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade Kholodnyi Yar () is a formation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. In October 2022 American military correspondent David Axe described the formation as "one of the most brutally effective" of Ukraine’s front-line brigades. History The brigade traces its history back to the 93rd Guards Rifle Division of the Soviet Union's Red Army, formed at Valuki in April 1943 from 13th Guards and 92nd Rifle Brigades. The division fought at Kursk, Kharkiv, Budapest, and Prague, and was serving with the 53rd Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front in May 1945. After a period as a 35th Guards Mechanized Division, and then 35th Guards Motor Rifle Division 1957–65, the division was redesignated as the 93rd Guards Motor Rifle Division in 1965. The 122-mm howitzer D-30 ( GRAU index 2A18) is a Soviet howitzer that first entered service in 1960. It is a robust piece that focuses on the essential features of a towed field gun suitable for all conditions.
