The 7's Football League (7s FL), also known as the AIA 7's Football League due to sponsorship with insurance company AIA Philippines, is a seven-a-side football league in the Philippines. Established in 2018, the league already had four seasons. It has a two-tiered men's division, a women's division, and youth divisions. The league is an open tournament with participation from representative sides of the domestic football competition, the Philippines Football League. History Former Philippine national team player Anton del Rosario led the establishment of the 7's Football League (7s FL) in 2018 and secured sponsors for the league in less than a week with the debut season's title sponsor being Go Well. The founding of the league was amidst uncertainty in the Philippines Football League which saw the withdrawal of two of its eight teams from the 2017 season. The Philippines Football League, commonly known as PFL, is a Filipino professional football league sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF). It is the Philippines' highest level of men's club football, supplanting the United Football League (UFL), which was previously the ''de facto'' top-tier league in the country. The United Football League, commonly known as the UFL, was an association football league, replaced by the Philippines Football League, based in the National Capital Region of the Philippines, governed by the Football Alliance (FA) in partnership with United Football Clubs Association (UFCA). The UFL was the Philippines' primary football league. In its last season in 2016, it was contested by 12 clubs and operated without a system of promotion and relegation with UFL Division 2, which was discontinued. 2017 Philippines Football League
The 2017 Philippines Football League was the inaugural season of the Philippines Football League (PFL), the professional football league of the Philippines. The league was officially launched on 21 April 2017 at Shangri-La at the Fort in Taguig, while the first match of the season was played on 6 May. The PFL replaced the Metro Manila-based United Football League (UFL), which served as the country's ''de facto'' top-level football league from 2009 to 2016. The league was made up of 8 clubs: 6 from the UFL (Ceres, Global, JP Voltes, Kaya, Loyola Meralco Sparks, and Stallion) and 2 expansion teams (Davao Aguilas and Ilocos United). Each club played the others four times (a home-and-away quadruple round-robin format), twice at their home ground and twice at that of their opponents', for 28 games. Anton Del Rosario
Anton Edward Quimson del Rosario (born 23 December 1981) is an American-born Filipino footballer who plays as a right back or centre-back for Maharlika Manila, of which he is also a co-founder and co-owner. He represented the Philippines national team from 2004 to 2014. Youth and college Since the age six, Del Rosario has had a passion for football which his older brother and his parents were influential figures. He then played for a local team in the Hillsborough, California. He eventually played football at Burlingame High School for four years and was part of the varsity team which was the first CCS Champion Team at the school.
