6th Sarasaviya Awards
The 6th Sarasaviya Awards festival (Sinhala: 6වැනි සරසවිය සම්මාන උලෙළ), presented by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited, was held to honor the best films of 1968 Sinhala cinema on March 26, 1969, at the Women's school premises, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Governor William Gopallawa was the chief guest at the awards night. Golu Hadawatha
''Golu Hadawatha'' (Translation: The Silent Heart) was a popular 1968 Sinhalese language romance movie directed by Maestro Lester James Peiris. Wickrama Bogoda and Anula Karunathilaka acted the lead roles of Sugath and Dhammhi. The movie's story is built on the novel Golu Hadawatha written by Karunasena Jayalath in 1962, based on his school time experiences and memories. Regi Siriwardena wrote the screenplay and Veteran Sinhala musician Premasiri Khemadasa composed the music. Golu Hadawatha is acclaimed as a movie that set a milestone in Sinhala moviemaking. It introduced a new cinematic format to the romance and love movie genre. Dommie Jayawardena, (25 June 1927 – 28 December 1979 as :si:ඩොමී ජයවර්ධන, ඩොමී ජයවර්ධන in Sinhala language, Sinhala) was a Sri Lankan actor and singer. He achieved fame playing villainous roles including Bollywood film ''Praan''. Personal life Dommie Jayawardena was born on 25 June 1927 in Ambalangoda. He died on December 28, 1979, at the age of 52. Dommie was married to Nona Subeida and the couple has two sons - Roy and Nihal, both were actors. Subeida has acted in two films - Sujatha and Rekava. Elder son Nihal was born on 4 March 1949. Gamini Fonseka
Kala Keerthi Sembuge Gamini Shelton Fonseka () (21 March 1936 - 30 September 2004 as ගාමිණී ෆොන්සේකා), was a Sri Lankan film actor, film director and politician.
