651 Series
The is an AC/ DC dual-voltage electric multiple unit (EMU) type operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) in Japan since March 1989. Trains originally operated as 7+4-car formations on '' Super Hitachi'' limited express services between in Tokyo and via the Jōban Line, but were withdrawn from regular scheduled services from the start of the revised timetable on 16 March 2013. The majority of the fleet was subsequently modified to become the 651-1000 series, and re-employed on '' Akagi'' and '' Kusatsu'' limited express services from March 2014. Tomioka Station
is a railway station in the town of Tomioka, Fukushima, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Built in 1898, the station was destroyed by a tsunami in March 2011, and reopened six years later in October 2017. Lines Tomioka Station is served by the Jōban Line, located from the official starting point of the line at Nippori Station. Station layout Tomioka Station has one island platform and one side platform, connected by a footbridge. The station building had a staffed ticket office until March 13, 2020. The is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) in Japan on '' Saphir Odoriko'' limited express services between Tokyo and Izukyū-Shimoda. It was designed to replace the older 251 series trains that were used on ''Super View Odoriko'' limited express services from April 28, 1990, until March 13, 2020. History The trains are designed by Ken Okuyama Design, with exterior painted with ''sapphire blue'' to match with the blue sky of the Izu Peninsula. Two eight car sets were manufactured, by Kawasaki Heavy Industries' Hyogo factory (cars 1 to 3) and Hitachi's (cars 4 to 8).
