The Sixty-First Wisconsin Legislature convened from to in regular session, and reconvened in a special session from to . This was the first legislative term after the Redistricting in Wisconsin, redistricting of the Senate and Assembly according to an act of the 60th Wisconsin Legislature, previous session—although there are barely any changes from the previous map. This was also the first legislative term since 41st Wisconsin Legislature, 1893–1894 in which the Democratic Party of Wisconsin held a majority of one of the chambers. This session also coincided with the formal schism of the Wisconsin Progressive Party from the Republican Party of Wisconsin. It was the beginning of a major political realignment in the state. The Wisconsin Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The Legislature is a bicameral body composed of the upper house, Wisconsin State Senate, and the lower Wisconsin State Assembly, both of which have had Republican majorities since January 2011. With both houses combined, the legislature has 132 members representing an equal number of constituent districts. The Legislature convenes at the state capitol in Madison. The current sitting is the 105th Wisconsin Legislature.
