Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Taipei)
The National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall () is located in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is a memorial to the Republic of China's Father of the Nation, National Father, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and was completed in 1972. The total building area covers in an open space of . It contains displays of Sun's life and the revolution he led, and is also a multi-purpose social, educational and cultural center for the public. Description The main entrance to the hall contains a statue of Sun Yat-sen. Every hour, there is a formal changing of the guards, which is a popular tourist attraction. The building also includes a performance hall, an exhibition center of about , a multimedia theatre, an audio-visual center, lecture halls, and a library with over 300,000 books. Taiwan Television
Taiwan Television Enterprise, Ltd. (), commonly known as TTV and formerly known as Central Television and Voice of Taiwan, is the first terrestrial television station in the Republic of China (Taiwan). It was established on April 28, 1962, and started formally broadcasting later that year on October 10, 1962, as free-to-air. It is the first television company in Taiwan. The station became home to many trailblazing and innovative shows at the time. Recently, the station enjoyed a resurgence in viewership when it inked a major contract with Sanlih E-Television to promote and air the latter's shows. Golden Melody Awards
The Golden Melody Awards (), commonly abbreviated as GMA, is an honor awarded by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture to recognize outstanding achievement in the Mandarin, Taiwanese Hokkien, Hakka, and Formosan-languages popular and traditional music industry. The GMAs are awarded on the basis of votes by members of jury, and it has constantly been recognized as the equivalent to the Grammy Awards in Chinese-speaking world. It shares recognition of the music industry as that of the other performance awards such as the Golden Bell Awards (television) and the Golden Horse Awards (motion pictures). The 1st Golden Melody Awards was held on January 6, 1990, to honor the popular music production by performers. Following the 1996 ceremony, the Ministry of Culture overhauled many Golden Melody Award categories for 1997.
