5th Division (People's Republic Of China)
The 5th Army Division（） formed in December 1967 by Jinan Military Region. Soon after its formation, in May 1968, the division was transferred to Urumqi, Xinjiang. By then the division was composed of: *13th Infantry Regiment; *14th Infantry Regiment; *15th Infantry Regiment; *312th Artillery Regiment (renamed as Artillery Regiment, 5th Army Division from December 1969). On August 20, 1980, the Central Military Commission posthumously awarded He Changfu(), assistant squad leader from 1st Squad, 6th Company, 14th Infantry Regiment the honorary title of "model of loving the people". In December 1985, the 5th Army Division was reduced and renamed as Garrison Brigade of Lanzhou Military Region（）. People's Liberation Army
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the principal military force of the People's Republic of China and the armed wing of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The PLA consists of five service branches: the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force, Rocket Force, and Strategic Support Force. It is under the leadership of the Central Military Commission (CMC) with its chairman as commander-in-chief. Xinjiang Military District
The Lanzhou Military Region was one of seven military regions in the People's Republic of China. It directed all People's Liberation Army and People's Armed Police forces in Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, and Ngari Prefecture in northwest Tibet. It was headquartered in Lanzhou in Gansu Province. It is bordered to the south by the Chengdu Military Region, and to the north by Mongolia, the Altai Republic, which is a political subdivision of the Russian Federation, and Kazakhstan. This region is now part of the Western Theater Command due to the military reforms of 2015. Sino-Vietnamese War
The Sino-Vietnamese War (also known by #Names, other names) was a border war fought between China and Vietnam in early 1979. China launched an offensive in response to Vietnam's Cambodian–Vietnamese War, actions against the Khmer Rouge in 1978, which ended the rule of the Chinese-backed Khmer Rouge. Both China and Vietnam claimed victory in the last of the Indochina Wars. Chinese forces invaded northern Vietnam and captured several cities near the China-Vietnam border, border. Jinan Military Region
The Jinan Military Region was a PLA Military Region located in the east of the People's Republic of China, covering the Shandong and Henan Provinces, which also formed military districts. It appears that Yang Dezhi was one of the first commander of the Jinan MR, from 1958. It was considered a strategic reserve. It includes some of the area previously within the Wuhan Military Region, disbanded in 1985–88. The 5th Air Corps was established in Weifeng, Shandong Province, in 1952, possibly from the disbanding 11th Corps, but was moved to Hangzhou in the Nanjing Military Region by 1954. After 1975 the 46th Army was transferred from Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province to Linyi, Shandong. It was disestablished in 1985. Laoshan District () is an urban district (区) of Qingdao, Shandong. It has an area of and had approximately 379,500 inhabitants as of 2010. It is home to Mount Lao, which gave the district its name.
