52nd Golden Horse Awards
The 52nd Golden Horse Awards (Mandarin： 第52屆金馬獎) honored the best Chinese-language films and filmmakers of 2014–15 and took place on 21 November 2015 at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. The ceremony presented 23 categories of Golden Horse Awards and was televised in Taiwan by TTV. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Taipei)
The National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall () is located in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is a memorial to the Republic of China's Father of the Nation, National Father, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and was completed in 1972. The total building area covers in an open space of . It contains displays of Sun's life and the revolution he led, and is also a multi-purpose social, educational and cultural center for the public. Description The main entrance to the hall contains a statue of Sun Yat-sen. Every hour, there is a formal changing of the guards, which is a popular tourist attraction. Thanatos, Drunk
''Thanatos, Drunk'' () is a 2015 Taiwanese drama film directed by Chang Tso-chi. It was screened in the Panorama section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. Plot Rat and his elder gay brother Shanghe live in an old house on the fringe of Taipei City. Rat works at a market vegetable stall and goes out with a mute woman who gets up to all sorts of craziness. Shanghe works for an entertainment company and dances in a gay nightclub. He is attracted to his cousin's boyfriend, Shuo, who is a gigolo. Shuo gets beaten up by his ex-client's brother, Ah Xiang, and his men at the behest of his sister. Ah Xiang, out for revenge because of a scar left by Rat, uses Rat's mute girlfriend to catch him. When alone with Ah Xiang, he attacks and stabs him suddenly with a hooked knife that he keeps around in his sling bag. Jia Zhangke ( zh, c=贾樟柯, p=Jiǎ Zhāngkē, born 24 May 1970) .He is a Chinese-language film and television director, screenwriter, producer, actor, and writer. He is the dean of the Shanxi Film Academy of Shanxi Media College and the dean of the Vancouver Film Academy of Shanghai University. Pema Tseden (), also called Wanma Tsaidan (; born December 1969), is a Tibetan film director and screenwriter of Chinese citizenship. He is a member of the China Film Directors' Guild, China Film Association and Chinese Film Literature Association. Biography Early life and education Pema Tseden was born into a pastoral family, in Guide County, Qinghai, in December 1969, during the Cultural Revolution. He is the only one of three siblings to have finished school. He graduated from Northwest University for Nationalities, where he majored in Tibetan Language and Literature. The Taking Of Tiger Mountain
''The Taking of Tiger Mountain'' () is a 2014 Chinese-Hong Kong epic action film directed by Tsui Hark, produced by Huang Jianxin and Yu Dong, and based on the novel ''Tracks in the Snowy Forest'' by Qu Bo. The story is based on a conflict between the People's Liberation Army of China and a bandit gang. It was released on December 23, 2014. Zhang Hanyu portrays Yang Zirong and Lin Gengxin takes on the role of Shao Jianbo, the two protagonists of the story. While Yang Zirong (1917–1947) is based on the real-life person, the other hero of the story Shao Jianbo is fictional, and Qu Bo created the character based on himself, as the story is seen through the point of view of Shao Jianbo. Chang Tso-chi (; born 26 December 1961) is a Taiwanese film director. His 2002 film '' The Best Of Times'' was entered into the 59th Venice International Film Festival. His films won Golden Horse Award for Best Feature Film two times, for '' The Best of Times'' (2002) and ' (2010). Chang was arrested and charged with rape in Taiwan in May 2013. He was found guilty in June 2014, was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in prison. He was released on parole on August 17, 2017. He served a total of 2 years, 4 months and 7 days in prison.
