5th Armored Brigade (South Korea)
The 5th Armored Brigade ( ko, 제5기갑여단) is a military formation of the Republic of Korea Army. The brigade is subordinated to the V Corps. Yangju
Yangju () is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Yangju is located south of Dongducheon and north of Uijeongbu, not far from Seoul. History * 1395 - Renamed to Yangju. * January 1, 1963 - Uijeongbu is separated and becomes a city. * April 1, 1980 - Namyangju is separated and becomes a city. * July 1, 1981 - Dongducheon is separated and becomes a city. Attractions Yangju is home to the Jangheun Art Gallery, which features six exhibition halls and includes subsidiary facilities such as outdoor performances and outdoor sculptures. Yangju also has an astronomical observatory and planetarium that is open to the public. The city also used to have a walking Dae Jang Geum Theme Park featuring the film locations and constructed sets for the MBC Korean drama ''Daejanggeum'', but this was closed permanently in late 2011 due to persistent vandalism. K1 (tank)
The K1, also known as Type 88 by American engineers, is a South Korean main battle tank designed by Chrysler Defense (later General Dynamics Land Systems) and Hyundai Precision Industry (later Hyundai Rotem) for the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. The vehicle's design was based on technology from Chrysler, Chrysler's M1 Abrams, tailored to meet the ROK's unique requirements. The K1A1 is an up-gunned variant with a Rheinmetall Rh-120, 120 mm 44 caliber smoothbore gun, and outfitted with more modern electronics, ballistic computers, fire control systems, and armor.
