57th Signal Company (United States)
Formed in 1947, the 57th Signal Company is an independent communications company of the U.S. Army. The 57th Signal Company has served in Germany, Korea, Vietnam, Alaska, and Iraq. The company is currently quartered in Germany. The unit's current nickname is “Titans” History Constituted 4 December 1943, in the US Army as the 311th Signal Service Battalion, it was activated 27 December 1943 at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. It was redesignated the 77th Signal Service Battalion 18 June 1947. 20 October 1947, it was reorganized and redesignated as the 57th Signal Service Company. It was inactivated in Germany, 5 March 1949. It was redesignated on 5 February 1953 as the 57th Signal Support Company. 12 March 1953, it was reactivated in Korea. 15 April 1954 it was reorganized and redesignated as the 57th Signal Company. Fort Monmouth
Fort Monmouth is a former installation of the Department of the Army in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The post is surrounded by the communities of Eatontown, Tinton Falls and Oceanport, New Jersey, and is located about from the Atlantic Ocean. The post covers nearly of land, from the Shrewsbury River on the east, to Route 35 on the west; this area is referred to as 'Main Post'. A separate area (Camp Charles Wood) to the west includes post housing, a golf course, and additional office and laboratory facilities. A rail line, owned by Conrail, runs through Camp Charles Wood and out to Naval Weapons Station Earle. The post is like a small town, including a Post Exchange (PX), health clinic, gas station and other amenities. Until the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks the post was open to the public to drive through; after that time, the post was closed to all but authorized personnel. Schweinfurt ( , ; ) is a city in the district of Lower Franconia in Bavaria, Germany. It is the administrative centre of the surrounding district (''Landkreis'') of Schweinfurt and a major industrial, cultural and educational hub. 172nd Infantry Brigade (United States)
The 172nd Infantry Brigade was a light infantry brigade of the United States Army stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska and later moved its headquarters to Grafenwöhr, Germany. An active duty separate brigade, it was part of V Corps and was one of five active-duty, separate, brigade combat teams in the U.S. Army before its most recent inactivation on 31 May 2013. First activated in 1917, the brigade was deployed to France during World War I and used to reinforce front-line units. The brigade's actions in France during that time are not completely clear. It would later be converted to a reconnaissance unit that was deployed during World War II and saw several months of combat in the European Theatre. The brigade has multiple tours of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2005 until 2006 and from 2008 until 2010 and in Operation Enduring Freedom from 2011 until 2012.
