54th Bodil Awards
The 54th Bodil Awards were held on 4 March 2001 in the Imperial Cinema in Copenhagen, Denmark, honouring the best national and foreign films of 2000. Peter Mygind and Birgitte Raaberg hosted the event which was broadcast live on DR2. '' The Bench'' won both the awards for Best Film and Best Actor in a leading and supporting role (Jesper Christensen and Nikolaj Kopernikus). The award for Best Actress in a Leading Role went to Björk (''Dancer in the Dark'') while the Best Actress in a Supporting Role award went to Lene Tiemroth for her performance in ''Italian For Beginners'', the film which had come to the ceremony with most nominations. The only Danish award which did not go to a Zentropa production was the award for Best Cinematographer which went to Eric Kress for his work both on ''A Place Nearby'', ''Flickering Lights'' and ''Miracle''. Bodil Awards
The Bodil Awards are the major Danish film awards given by the Danish Film Critics Association. The awards are presented annually at a ceremony in Copenhagen. Established in 1948, it is one of the oldest film awards in Europe. The awards are given without regard to commercial interests or box-office sales, but rather to highlight the films or actors that the critics regard as most worthy. The name of the award honours two of the most important actresses in Danish cinema, Bodil Kjer and Bodil Ipsen. The statuette is made of porcelain, and was designed by Danish artist and sculpted by Svend Jespersen of Bing & Grøndahl. Flickering Lights
''Flickering Lights'' (Danish: ''Blinkende Lygter'') is a 2000 Danish black comedy crime film directed and written by Anders Thomas Jensen, and starring Søren Pilmark, Mads Mikkelsen, Ulrich Thomsen, Iben Hjejle, and Nikolaj Lie Kaas. Plot Four small-time gangsters from Copenhagen trick a gangster boss: they steal over 4,000,000 Danish kroner which they were supposed to bring him. Trying to escape to Barcelona they are forced to stop in the countryside, in an old, wrecked house, hiding there for several weeks. Slowly, one after another, they realize that they would like to stay there, starting a new life, renovating the house and turning it into a restaurant. But their past eventually catches up with them. Thure Lindhardt
Thure Frank Lindhardt (; born 24 December 1974) is a Danish actor, educated at the drama school at Odense Theatre in 1998. Life and career Lindhardt was born in Copenhagen, and grew up in Roskilde. At the age of 12, he got a part in Bille August's film ''Pelle the Conqueror''. His breakthrough in Denmark came with his portrayal of a boy with autism in ''A Place Nearby'', co-starring with Ghita Nørby. Per Fly Plejdrup (born 14 January 1960) is a Danish film director, generally credited simply as Per Fly. He has made many films and television shows broadcast on Danish television. Per Fly's awards includes the Crown Prince Couple's Culture Prize in 2005. Biography Fly graduated from The National Film School of Denmark in 1993. He debuted in 2000 with the feature film ''Bænken'' (''The Bench''), which told the story of Kaj, a man whose life has led him into serious alcoholism. Peter Aalbæk Jensen (born 8 April 1956 in Osted) is a Danish film producer who in 1992 with director Lars von Trier founded the Danish film company Zentropa and later its huge studio complex Filmbyen.
