The 41st Battalion (French Canadian), CEF, was an infantry battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the Great War World War I (28 July 1914 11 November 1918), often abbreviated as WWI, was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history. The battalion provided reinforcements to the Canadian Corps in the field until 13 July 1916, when its personnel were absorbed by the 69th Battalion, CEF. The battalion was disbanded on 15 September 1920. The 41st Battalion recruited in the Province of Quebec and Ottawa, Ontario and was mobilized at Quebec City. 41st Battalion, Royal New South Wales Regiment
The 41st Battalion, Royal New South Wales Regiment, (41 RNSWR), is an infantry battalion of the Australian Army. An Army Reserve unit, it is one of four battalions of the Royal New South Wales Regiment and is attached to the 5th Brigade, 2nd Division. It is based in northern New South Wales, with its headquarters in Lismore and depots in a number of locations including Tweed Heads, Grafton, Kempsey, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour. In its present form the battalion was raised in 1965, however, it can trace its lineage back to a couple of Scottish Rifles units formed in the 1800s in Byron Bay and Maclean. It also perpetuates the battle honours and traditions of the 41st Bn AIF, that served on the Western Front during World War I. 41 Commando or No. 41 (Royal Marine) Commando was a unit of the Royal Marines trained as Commandos during the Second World War. They were part of the all Royal Marine 4th Special Service Brigade that took part in the Normandy landings in June 1944 and later that served in World War II, the Korean War, and in Northern Ireland. 41st Battalion Iowa Volunteer Infantry
The 41st Iowa Infantry Battalion was an infantry battalion that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Service The 41st Iowa Infantry was organized as Companies A, B, and C of the 14th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment at Davenport, Iowa and mustered in for three years of Federal service on November 6, 1861. These three companies were immediately detached and sent to Fort Randall, Dakota Territory, arriving there on December 5, 1861. The companies were permanently detached from the 14th Iowa on September 18, 1862, where they remained until May 1863. At one time, the state of Iowa intended to use these companies as the nucleus of a 41st Iowa Regiment, but this plan was abandoned. The battalion was transferred to the 7th Iowa Volunteer Cavalry Regiment in April 1863.
