404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade
The 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade is a maneuver enhancement brigade of the Illinois Army National Guard. Formerly the 404th Chemical Brigade, this unit is tailored to support the maneuver and security of a Division-level headquarters. The Brigade comprises Engineer, Chemical CBRN, Military Police, Signal and Support units. The Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB) is a relatively new formation within the US Army. It is primarily designed to provide maneuver support to its assigned headquarters with a mix of technical expertise and combat power. However, the structure of a MEB also makes it ideal for consequence management in response to domestic disasters. Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A shoulder sleeve insignia (often abbreviated SSI) is an embroidered patch worn on some uniforms of the United States Army. It is used by major formations of the U.S. Army; each formation has a unique formation patch. The U.S. Army is unique among the U.S. Armed Forces in that all soldiers are required to wear the patch of their headquarters as part of their military uniforms. Shoulder sleeve insignia receive their name from the fact that they are most commonly worn on the upper left sleeve of the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) and Army Green uniform. However, they can be placed on other locations, notably on the side of a helmet. Shoulder sleeve insignia worn on the upper right sleeve of Army uniforms denote former wartime service. CBRN
Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence (CBRN defence) are protective measures taken in situations in which chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear warfare (including terrorism) hazards may be present. CBRN defence consists of CBRN passive protection, contamination avoidance, and weapons of mass destruction mitigation. 333rd Military Police Company
The 333d Military Police Company is a law enforcement unit within the Illinois Army National Guard. The unit is based out of the Freeport Armory in Freeport, Illinois. History On September 1, 1997, the 444th Chemical Company was converted into the 333d Military Police Company, which assumed overseas training missions in Panama, Germany, Italy, Nicaragua and Belize. The company's duties in Panama, Germany and Italy were primarily assisting the active-duty component in conducting law-and-order base security. In Nicaragua and Belize, the company was tasked with guarding engineers who built roads, schools and drilled wells for drinking water. The 44th Chemical Battalion is a chemical defense battalion of the Illinois Army National Guard, organized in 2008. It is headquartered at Macomb, Illinois, part of the 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, formerly a chemical brigade. A previous unit with the same designation was organized in 1989, headquartered at Sycamore and then Machesney Park as part of the 404th Chemical Brigade before its 1997 inactivation. The reorganization plan of the United States Army is a current modernization (2017–2028) and reorganization (2006–2016) plan of the United States Army that was implemented (2006–2016) under the direction of Brigade Modernization Command.
