404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade
The 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade is a maneuver enhancement brigade of the Illinois Army National Guard. Formerly the 404th Chemical Brigade, this unit is tailored to support the maneuver and security of a Division-level headquarters. The Brigade comprises Engineer, Chemical CBRN, Military Police, Signal and Support units. The Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB) is a relatively new formation within the US Army. It is primarily designed to provide maneuver support to its assigned headquarters with a mix of technical expertise and combat power. However, the structure of a MEB also makes it ideal for consequence management in response to domestic disasters. Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A shoulder sleeve insignia (often abbreviated SSI) is an embroidered patch worn on some uniforms of the United States Army. It is used by major formations of the U.S. Army; each formation has a unique formation patch. The U.S. Army is unique among the U.S. Armed Forces in that all soldiers are required to wear the patch of their headquarters as part of their military uniforms. Shoulder sleeve insignia receive their name from the fact that they are most commonly worn on the upper left sleeve of the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) and Army Green uniform. However, they can be placed on other locations, notably on the side of a helmet. Shoulder sleeve insignia worn on the upper right sleeve of Army uniforms denote former wartime service. These "combat patches" are worn on the ACU and the new Army Greens but are not worn on the Army Service Uniform. CBRN
Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence (CBRN defence) are protective measures taken in situations in which chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear warfare (including terrorism) hazards may be present. CBRN defence consists of CBRN passive protection, contamination avoidance, and weapons of mass destruction mitigation. A CBRN incident differs from a hazardous material incident in both scope (i.e., CBRN can be a mass casualty situation) and intent. CBRN incidents are responded to under the assumption that they are intentional and malicious; evidence preservation and perpetrator apprehension are of greater concern than with HAZMAT incidents.
