4th Crunchyroll Anime Awards
The 4th Crunchyroll Anime Awards were held on February 15, 2020, honoring excellence in anime from 2019. Crunchyroll announced the categories and the list of judges for the 2020 awards on December 17, while also noting that the list was still not complete. They also noted that they've increased their judges by over 50%, with more than half of them coming from outside the United States. Nominees were announced on the first day of voting, January 10. Voting ran until January 17, with the results announced on February 15. The show was hosted by WWE wrestler Xavier Woods and Tim Lyu. Several personalities in the anime community were invited to present the awards. There were 18 categories. Best Couple was reinstated after being absent in the last two editions. Best Score, Best Drama, and Best Comedy were also reinstated after being absent in the last year's edition. Best Film and Best Continuing Series were dropped. Dororo (2019 TV Series)
is a 2019 anime television series produced by MAPPA and Tezuka Productions based on the manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka, and is a re-adaptation of the previous 1969 series. The adaptation departs from the source material in several ways, but follows the basic premise of the manga: a young '' ronin'', named Hyakkimaru, along with a young child, Dororo, must face multiple demons in Sengoku-era Japan who have stolen his various body parts in order to get them back. The main innovation was the new portrayal of Hyakkimaru, a weaker samurai than the one written by Tezuka with director Kazuhiro Furuhashi among other staff member conceiving the alternate of take of the young swordsman becoming a new person following his journey with Dororo in a similar manner to buddy films. Dororo
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the manga artist Osamu Tezuka. Tezuka's childhood memory of his friends pronouncing as ''dororo'' inspired the title of the series. ''Dororo'' was first serialized in Shogakukan's ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' between August 1967 and July 1968, before being cancelled. The manga was then concluded in Akita Shoten's ''Bōken'ō'' magazine in 1969. A 26-episode anime television series adaptation by Mushi Productions aired in 1969.
