Origin The second time that Mandela was imprisoned on Robben Island was in 1964, and he was the 466th prisoner that year. His prison number remained 466/64 until 1982, when he was transferred to Pollsmoor Prison and given the prison number 220/82. "Prisoner 46664" continues to be used as a reverential title for him. "46664 (Long Walk to Freedom)", also known as just "46664", is a 2004 song by U2 vocalist Bono and Clash guitarist Joe Strummer, released as part of a series of albums called ''46664'', both named after Nelson Mandela's prisoner number after his 1964 arrest. The album version, released as a single on October 21, 2003, was originally intended to be performed with Strummer before his death in 2002. Instead, the song was performed by Bono along with Eurythmics multi-instrumentalist Dave Stewart, U2 guitarist the Edge, Senegalese politician and musician Youssou N'Dour, and Abdel Wright. The albums came along with a concert also called 46664 which honored Mandela and benefitted charitable efforts against HIV/AIDS in South Africa. Green Point Stadium
The Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa was a multi-purpose sports stadium. Opened in 1897, it had a concrete banked cycle track, also occasionally used for motorsport, with a lap distance of a third of a mile - - and inside the cycle track was an athletics track. When it first opened it had seating for 1,000 people, and could accommodate 3,000 standing spectators. Prior to its demolition in 2007, it had 18,000 seats. Jack Rose twice held the world amateur human-paced hour record for cycling in 1898 and 1899, on the latter occasion riding 30 miles 606 yards in the hour at Green Point. Christopher Hamlet Thompson (born 9 March 1948) is an English singer and guitarist known both for his work with Manfred Mann's Earth Band, specifically for his lead vocal on the classic hit "Blinded By the Light" and for his solo accomplishments.
