41st César Awards
The 41st César Awards ceremony, presented by the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma, was held on 26 February 2016, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris to honour the best French films of 2015. The ceremony was presided by Claude Lelouch, with Florence Foresti hosting the ceremony for the first time. The nominations were announced on 27 January 2016 by Academy president Alain Terzian and awards ceremony host Florence Foresti. '' Marguerite'' and ''My Golden Days'' tied for the most nominations with eleven each. In related events, the César & Techniques 2016 ceremony was held on 4 January 2016. The Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma ( en, Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques) is an organization that gives out the César Award. It was created in 1975, on the initiative of Georges Cravenne. Board of directors The board is made up of 50 members, with an additional 13 selected for their contributions to cinema. They handle admissions, criteria and overall management. Protests over the structure of the board came to a head in February 2020. An open letter signed by over 400 French directors and actors decried the "opaqueness" of the Board's structure and the lack of democratic governance; members of the Academy do not vote on leadership, unlike similar organizations such as Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Motion Picture Academy or the BAFTA. ''Dheepan'' is a 2015 French crime drama film directed by Jacques Audiard and co-written by Audiard, Thomas Bidegain, and Noé Debré. Why Not Productions is a public French film production company founded by producers Pascal Caucheteux and Grégoire Sorlat in 1990. Its main focus is French auteur cinema, but it also co-produces films from other countries. Four Seasons Hotel George V ( ) is a luxury hotel on avenue George V in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. History The Hotel George V, named for King George V of the United Kingdom, opened in 1928. It was financed, at a cost of $31 million (60 million Francs), by American businessman Joel Hillman. It was managed by restaurateur André Terrail, owner of La Tour d'Argent. Its architect was Georges Wybo, who had designed the Casino de Deauville and the reconstruction of the Printemps Haussmann following the fire of 1921. The hotel was popular with Americans arriving in France on Transatlantic ocean liners, as it operated offices in the port of Cherbourg to receive customers on their arrival. Alain Terzian (born 2 May 1949) is a French-Armenian film producer, Administrator of Cannes Film Festival jury, and former President of Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma.
