414th Combat Training Squadron
The 414th Combat Training Squadron (414 CTS) is a United States Air Force unit assigned to the 57th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. The 414th is a non-flying organization charged with hosting Red Flag exercises, Air Combat Command's largest Large Force Exercise (LFE). The unit was originally formed as the 414th Night Fighter Squadron in 1943. After training, it was deployed to Twelfth Air Force during the North African Campaign to provide air defense interceptor protection against Luftwaffe night air raids. It later operated in Sardinia, Corsica, Italy, plus a detachment served in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. It returned to the United States and was inactivated in 1947. It was reactivated as the 414th Fighter Weapons Squadron at Nellis in 1969, serving in that role until inactivated in 1983. 414th Fighter Group
The 414th Fighter Group is an Air Reserve Component (ARC) of the United States Air Force. It is assigned to the 944th Fighter Wing of Tenth Air Force, Air Force Reserve Command, stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. The group was first activated in the fall of 1944 as a long-range fighter unit. It moved to the Pacific Ocean Theater, where it saw limited combat as an element of Twentieth Air Force. After the surrender of Japan, it moved to Clark Field in the Philippines, where it was part of Thirteenth Air Force until its planes were transferred to another group and it was inactivated in September 1946. The 414th was activated again in the summer of 1955 at Oxnard Air Force Base, California as part of the air defenses of the Pacific coast. The 414th Regiment is a training regiment of the United States Army Reserve. It was originally constituted as an Idaho-based Organized Reserve unit, the 414th Infantry, in 1921 during the interwar period. The 414th fought in World War II with the 104th Infantry Division and was inactivated after the end of the war. It was reactivated postwar and moved to Washington state before being reorganized as a training unit in 1959, becoming part of the 104th Division (Training). History The regiment was constituted in the Organized Reserve on 24 June 1921 as the 414th Infantry, part of the Ninth Corps Area's 104th Division, which was later redesignated as the 104th Infantry Division. 414 Tank Battalion (german: Panzerbataillon 414; nl, 414 Tankbataljon) is a mixed German and Dutch tank battalion, consisting of around 100 Dutch and 300 German soldiers. History The battalion was founded in 2016, and became fully operational in 2019. Previously the German battalion, part of the 41st Panzergrenadier Brigade was active from 1991–2006 at Spechtberg.
