40 (Sunnyboys Album)
''40'' (also known as Sunnyboys 40) is a greatest hits/re-issue album by the Australian power pop group, Sunnyboys. ''40'' is a re-issue of the four songs on the group's debut self-titled extended play and adding four new studio recordings of songs from the Jeremy Oxley archive. The album was released in November 2019 and peaked at number 84 on the ARIA Charts. Band member Jeremy Oxley "You can't keep a good band down. These new and revitalised songs take it back to the reason behind the band in the first instance. The 40 years in between is nicely depicted in the change in voice while the energy and craftsmanship is still there in the sound, albeit a little fuller and rounder. Sunnyboys are an Australian power pop band formed in Sydney in 1979. Fronted by singer-songwriter, guitarist Jeremy Oxley, the band "breathed some freshness and vitality into the divergent Sydney scene". ''Sunnyboys Real Live'' is the first live album by the Australian power pop group, Sunnyboys. It was recorded in June 1984 and released in November 1984 on Mushroom Records. Background Following the release of ''Get Some Fun'' in April 1984, the group supported The Police The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. For most of their history the line-up consisted of primary songwriter Sting (lead vocals, bass guitar), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums, percussion). The Police ... and by June, the Sunnyboys announced they were disbanding: internal dissent and the pressure and stress of industry expectation being cited as the reasons for the break-up. The group's performance in Sydney's Chevron Hotel and Maroubra Seal Club in June 1984 were released in November 1984. ''Get Some Fun'' is the third studio album by the Australian power pop group, Sunnyboys. It was produced by Nick Garvey, formerly of The Motors and released in April 1984 on Mushroom Records. It peaked at No. 36 on the Australian Kent Music Report albums chart, but like all of the band's first three albums has come to be regarded as a classic of its time. Background For this album, the band hired new management in the form of Michael Chugg and in May 1983 Sunnyboys returned to the studio to record a new single, "Show Me Some Discipline" which possessed a darker soul to the band's previous fare.
