The 4.7 cm KPÚV vz. 38 (), also known as the 4.7 cm KPÚV vz. 36 (), is an anti-tank gun produced by the Škoda Works that saw service in World War II. History Originally designed for the Czechoslovak Army, some were also sold to Yugoslavia. A number were appropriated by the Germans after the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939 and used under the names 4.7 cm PaK (t) or PaK 36(t). The Germans continued production and mounted the PaK 36(t) on the Panzerkampfwagen I chassis as the Panzerjäger I tank destroyer. The Panzer I was a light tank produced by Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Its name is short for (German for "armored fighting vehicle mark I"), abbreviated as . The tank's official German ordnance inventory designation was ''Sd.Kfz. 101'' ("special purpose vehicle 101"). Design of the Panzer I began in 1932 and mass production began in 1934. The Renault R35, an abbreviation of ''Char léger Modèle 1935 R'' or R 35, was a French light infantry tank of the Second World War. Panzerjäger I
The I (English: "tank hunter mark I") was the first German ("tank hunter") to see service in the Second World War. It mounted the Czech 4.7 cm KPÚV vz. 38 (German designation "4.7 cm (t)") anti-tank gun on a converted open-topped Panzer I chassis. It was intended to counter heavy French tanks like the Char B1 ''bis'' that were beyond the capabilities of the 3.7 cm Pak 36 anti-tank gun and extended the life of the obsolete Panzer I chassis. A total of 202 Panzer I chassis were converted to I standard in 1940–41, and were employed in the Battle of France, in the North Africa campaign and on the Eastern Front.
