38th Guards Communications Brigade
The 38th Guards Communications Brigade is a signals brigade in the Russian Airborne Forces. It is currently located near Bear Lake, Moscow. On February 1, 1997, the 171st separate communications brigade was reorganized into the 38th separate communications regiment. The Brigade was scattered across Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Kosovo. The Brigade Also had action in counter terror operations in the north Caucuses. By 2015 the Regiment was turned into a brigade and given the honorary name " Guards". Russian Airborne Forces
The Russian Airborne Forces (russian: Воздушно-десантные войска России, ВДВ, Vozdushno-desantnye voyska Rossii, VDV) are the airborne forces branch of the Russian Armed Forces. It was formed in 1992 from units of the Soviet Airborne Forces that came under Russian control following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Insurgency In The North Caucasus
The insurgency in the North Caucasus (russian: Борьба с терроризмом на Северном Кавказе) was a low-level armed conflict between Russia and militants associated with the Caucasus Emirate and, from June 2015, Islamic State (IS) groups in the North Caucasus. It followed the official end of the decade-long Second Chechen War on 16 April 2009. It attracted people from the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia, who then participated in the conflict, but volunteers from the North Caucasus were also fighting in Syria. The insurgency became relatively dormant in its later years. Kosovo War
The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that started 28 February 1998 and lasted until 11 June 1999. It was fought by the forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (i.e. Serbia and Montenegro), which controlled Kosovo before the war, and the Kosovo Albanian rebel group known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The conflict ended when the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) intervened by beginning air strikes in March 1999 which resulted in Yugoslav forces withdrawing from Kosovo.
