The following is a list of the east–west arterial thoroughfares in the city of Edmonton, Alberta. Numbered avenues run east-west with avenues numbers increasing to the north. In 1982 a quadrant system was adopted. Quadrant Avenue (1 Avenue; only constructed west of the river), along with Windermere Boulevard and the south leg of Anthony Henday Drive, dividing the north and south quadrants. Edmonton currently has three quadrants: northwest (NW), southwest (SW), and northeast (NE); the vast majority of the city falls within the northwest quadrant. Addresses on 41 Avenue and south have been encouraged to include NW to avoid confusion with addresses in the SW quadrant. 50 Street, Edmonton
50 Street is the designated name of two major arterial roads in east Edmonton, Alberta. Separated by the North Saskatchewan River, it is mostly straight, and runs the entire south-north length of Edmonton as well as the suburb of Beaumont. The Yellowhead Trail and 50 Street junction is the start of Highway 15, it then goes north to Manning Drive, which it follows from there. Highway 814 used follow 50 Street between Edmonton and Beaumont, until the Beaumont government took control of the road. The northside section of 50 Street is presently segmented by the developing community of Cy Becker with grading in place for a future interchange at Anthony Henday Drive; however, there is no timeline for construction. Prior to Whitemud Drive being extended to Anthony Henday Drive (Highway 216), 50 Street between Whitemud Drive and Sherwood Park Freeway was designated as part of Highway 14. Richford, Edmonton
Richford is a newer neighbourhood in south west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada overlooking the Blackmud Creek Ravine. According to the 2005 municipal census, there were 161 residences in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is bounded on the south by Ellerslie Road and on the west by the James Mowat Trail (111 Street). To the north and east the neighbourhood is bounded by the Blackmud Creek Ravine. The most common type of residence in the neighbourhood, according to the 2005 municipal census, is single-family dwelling. These account for two out of every three (69%) of all the residences in the neighbourhood. The remaining one in three (31%) residences are duplexes. MacEwan, Edmonton
MacEwan is a residential neighbourhood in south Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Approximately half of the residences (52%) are single-family dwellings according to the 2005 municipal census. Another three in ten (29%) are rented apartments and apartment style condominiums. The remaining one in five (19%) are duplexes. Rutherford is a neighbourhood in south Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is named after Alexander Cameron Rutherford, Alberta's first premier. According to the 2005 municipal census, approximately 85% of the residences in the neighbourhood are single-family dwellings. Ellerslie is an area in the southeast portion of the City of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. It was established in 1999 through Edmonton City Council's adoption of the Ellerslie Area Structure Plan, which guides the overall development of predominantly residential neighbourhoods in the area.
