2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 11th Airborne Division
The 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 11th Airborne Division is an airborne infantry brigade combat team (BCT) of the United States Army. The unit is stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska and is the only airborne brigade combat team in the Pacific Theater. It is also the newest airborne Infantry BCT and one of only five in the United States Army; the others are the three Infantry BCTs of the 82nd Airborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Fort Richardson (Alaska)
Fort Richardson is a United States Army installation in the U.S. State of Alaska, adjacent to the city of Anchorage. In 2010, it was merged with nearby Elmendorf Air Force Base to form Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. History Fort Richardson was named for the military pioneer explorer, Brig. Gen. Wilds P. Richardson, who served three tours of duty in the rugged Alaska territory between 1897 and 1917. 343rd Operations Group
The 343d Wing is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last assignment was with Pacific Air Forces at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, where it was inactivated on 20 August 1993. The unit was formed at Eielson as the 343d Composite Wing and activated in October 1981 to replace the 5010th Combat Support Group. It operated both fighter and forward air control aircraft. 11th Tactical Control Group
The 11th Air Control Wing is an inactive unit of the United States Air Force, last stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. It was assigned to the Pacific Air Forces' Eleventh Air Force and was inactivated in 1994. The wing was activated on 21 June 1948 as the 531st Air Control and Warning Group at McChord Air Force Base, part of the Fourth Air Force. The 626th and 632d Air Control and Warning Squadrons were assigned to the group. Around 25 October 1948, it became part of the 25th Air Division.
